the good lands, the bad lands, the any where you may want me lands |
last nights viewing options included yet another piece of Channel 4 freak show journalism...the stars of the show were without any shadow of a doubt the 'freaky ones' (no offence meant) who demonstrated just how we have to cope with everyday life, tasks that everyone else takes for granted, how our impairments apply themselves and the impact on us...They're great each and everyone of them...uh uh uh, don't anyone dare say that they are courageous and brave, they are just show casing how by being themselves how their disabilities affect them...
It'll be interesting to see how attitudes towards them as people that want to work and want to have the same chance as everyone else develops over the next few weeks.

"Haven't seen it. People like to appear to 'feel sorry' for the less fortunate. There will be oohs and ahhs all over Facebook about it. "
that's the nub of the problem...less fortunate? you mean because they aren't holding down a full time paid job? |

Less fortunate can mean anything. Depends on how the producers shoot the programme. |

Dint watch it then of you don't like the sentiment or the public out cry about it... I assume your telly has more options than just chanel 4?
I didn't watch it personally, the same as I won't watch any chanel 5 'documentary' on fat people or people in benefits etc.
Iy seems that TV producers can't to right by doing wrong here. Ignore disabled people who want to work in industries you would think would be challenging and your ignorant. Make a show highlighting the challenges they face bit also showing how people can over come those challenges and live a life they want to live nd you are patronising. It's a fucking minefield. Add to that the 'offence' land mines that seem to be laid about with gay abandon.

I'm looking forward to seeing where it all goes; hopefully Dan will be recognised for his skill and get back to a full time position where he is valued for what he knows, Jack is already stretching his ability away from dinging TV dinners, Amily is a brilliant front of house person, and Sophie? I'm holding everything for her |
