What can I paint over staples to stop them being jaggy and snagging my stockings under my costume? will PVA glue work?

Can you take the staples out and sew it together? The staples could move around and work free from anything you put over them

I would have suggested the same, you don't need much to take the edges off.

i would be here till next halloween if i had to sew ... you will see when i put the pics up at the weekend but there is LOADS stapled on ... ive stapled them all backwards if that makes sense so the non sharp side is on the inside but still worried it will snag and the cellotape or duct tape would be the same ... be worried it sticks to the stockings and catches them ...

i might try the candle wax .. just welt a wee yankee tart and paint it on with a brush ... would smell nice too

Yeah, if you build up enough layers or apply a 'blob' over the staple.

I would use duct tape or insulation tape as someone suggested earlier, or medical tape if you don't have any. Sellatape will not stick strongly enough.

If you squeeze them in the middle with a pair of pliers then there will be no protruding sharp ends

Depends what your costume s made of but surgical tape, preferably the fabric type should work and wouldn't iritate your skin x
