Advice please.... not for me.
A lady friend of mine has botox she uses a mobile guy fully registered and all jazz and she asked me if I'd like to get my mum botox for Xmas as mum's mentioned it a few times.
***dilemma***
Will mum be offended at botox for Xmas although she's mentioned it?
What if I pay for it and she doesn't have it due to being scared of needles?
Should I just book it? She hasn't mentioned it for a while do how do I say.. oh would you like botox for Xmas lol?!
Mate said she's have it done at same time as mum to settle nerves etc? Think I'm gonna book or should I tell her now then ring the guy and pay for it?! |

Scratch that, didn't read it properly!
If it's something she's mentioned before, what do you think has put her off doing it, just the cost or fear of needles? I just wonder if she might feel she 'has' to if she's had it as a present. |

The fear of needles and she in her mid 50's quite traditional bla bla so it would be a step into the unknown for her but I know it's something she would like but fear stops her I think |

Exactly on point. I wouldn't want her to feel like she has to have it done as I've paid for it, that would be a shit feeling but I think she would have it done because she wants to?
Think I'll have to tell her first eh?! |

As someone in her late fifties I would be deeply upset if my son gave me botox for Christmas but I'm not you mum. I would say that if she hasn't mentioned it for a while your best bet is to talk to your mum, tell her you think she looks fabulous but you know she's talked about having it and you'd like to give her something she really wants. Emphasise that if she isn't keen you'll get her something else. |

"Small and very fine needles, you barely feel them going in"
I've had it twice now and you hardly feel the needles
my advice would be ask her if she'd like it, I know it would spoil the suprise but for something like botox I think you need to be sure |

Why don't you just design your own voucher if you think it's what she'd like? Then if she doesn't want it, you've not wasted any money but get to keep it as a surprise. |

A friends son bought her some special cream designed for really deep eye wrinkles and bags. He thought he had found a really good gift.....she was utterly devastated .
It's one thing saying you'd like something to make you look younger but quite another to have it confirmed that you need it by your son.
The casual mention approach the op has decided on is the best I think. |

Don't book it and certainly don't pay for it, without her definite agreement that she wants it and is ready for it.
Discuss it with her fully.
And also look at who can deliver it, which could be a doctor, nurse or someone without wider medical training. If it was my mum I'd probably only want another doctor or a nurse to deliver it.
If the results aren't great, it's tied somewhat to you, which is not great. Would you be happy if she was left with negative consequences?
Re_iew other providers and compare them, if you're given her go ahead.
I realize you want something that is special for your mum, which is lovely. But often things are better not rushed into under pressure. Is there something else that would be uplifting and special for her that you could give instead?
I've bought my mum some Elemis products that she loves but that are expensive and a little offputting for her to use everyday. If you can find something she'd really like but your mum couldn't perhaps be quick to buy for herself, it may be a satisfying and safer alternative. |
