I wanted to get your thoughts on womens sex drive when they hit the menopause or have gone through it.

Vanilla friends seem to suggest their sex drive just stops, and they're no longer interested in sex! ! I wondered if this was hormonal, and if so, are us fems doomed once we hit menopause?

Thoughts please x

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I know women where the peri-menopause and menopause has affected their libido and others where it hasn't.

My libido wasn't affected but I was celibate during the peri-menopause and the first year or so of the menopause and then decided that to return to sex and let the libido take control for a bit.

That's good to know lickety, it's a pretty depressing thought that swinging, or the desire to swing might end in the not too distant future!

I've just gone through menopause myself and I have absolutely no desire for sex...at first I thought everything was broke but then I met up with a friend who definitely got things going...I think the triggers change...before menopause I was driven with the need to procreate...as that need isn't there anymore sex now is more emotional...no connection...nothing works...sad but true...

Going through the menopause is, I seem to be sailing through it, it I have hormone replacement in my coil.

Only thing is the days I'm not in the mood then I'm not and nothing would change my mind but everything is still in good working order.

Assumptions here but you are only 39 you got a while yet unless you are going through early menopause X

I am keeping my fingers, toes and anything else crossed it doesn't happen for a long time. I think it's just been on my radar because I work with a lot of women who are going through it.

What is nice, people didn't discuss it years ago, at least women are more open and talk about how it affects them now.

Do you go through the menopause if you have a hysterectomy regardless of age?

Only if you have the ovaries taken too. If you still have the ovaries then your menopause will happen whenever it was due to happen.

O o O oo

I had a little blip for about 6 months but it coincided with a health problem I had so I am not sure if it was that rather than the menopause.

Apart from that things are still the same

I'm premenopausal and taking hrt.

My sex drive has slowed down to what it was. I'm also a lot dryer then before, and cum a lot less. But then I used to cum at least 20 times before.

I've been menopausing for 7yrs and on HRT for 6yrs, my sex drive is still very high and I get wetter than I've ever done. I think it's down to the individual person as everyone is different.

It's a mixture of things that cause libido to drop, hormones, body image, self perception, physical changes and so on but it doesn't happen to everyone and isn't something that you should expect.

Some women have horrible symptoms and the last thing on their minds is sex.

My gp told me that if possible peri and post menopausal women should have sex every day to keep the blood flow constant in their vagina.

Peri menopause is the time when our hormones fluctuate and we go thorough all those physical and emotional changes. Once it's done, we are then menopausal.

Be thankful you are not almost 55 and still in full working order. I am peri menopausal (blood work confirmed this) and luckily, not symptomatic.

So, libido. I've never really been horny until I get horny; I've never had the desire for sex but I bloody love it when I do but recently, I've had some random stirrings not associated with being in a sexy environment.

THANK FUCK!!!!!!

Apart from never being cold (not quite never) I'm well into menopause. I joined here three years ago and had a feast! I'm still here and feel a little aggrieved if I can't meet existing "friends" or a newby at least three times a week. Sex drive high I would say.

Thank you so much for sharing, this is where forum really comes into its own.

I get really fed up, only hearing the shit side of menopausal symptoms. It's good to know from you lovely ladies that it isn't all bad!

Ps I need to change my GP to the one nicecouple see!

Not quite, if you don't have an oophorectomy alongside the hysterectomy, your ovaries are 50% likely to fail still within 2 years of the hyster, which is why I'm menopausal aged 35.

Sailed through peri except for the flushing and night sweats at the time of the month. My skin has become very dry though. And recent blood tests have me in menopause but so far so good. Nothing has changed
