"If xy = 144 and x+y= 30 then y = 30 - x. So, x(30 - x) = 144 30x - x^2 - 144 = 0 x^2 - 30x + 144 = 0
That's sexy in a geeky way "

Maybe I'm slow, but based on the OP, why is the statement x+y=30 true? Or am I missing something?

That's not giving 144 as the answer.
Instead:
x/3z+y=32
x+y= 2(z^3) - 4
xy=5xz
Solve for x, where z^3 is z raised to the power 3. |
