Such a beautiful icon with a sad life.

Iv just read about her sad life, I'd never read anything like this about her before (only her death) how very sad.

She is one of my icons... Who is your icon?

Sir Ranulph feinnes.

Ex sas

7 marathons in 7 days, on 7 continents, numerous expeditions, mostly for charity,

And he cut off his own frostbitten fingers with a hacksaw in his shed.

"Mae West was far more interesting"

Mae West is fantastic I'd recommend people who don't know her to check her out.

I'd say Bob Dylan for me. Though there's probably others...

Kathy Burke.

No sensationalism, no selling sex, no front, no facade.

Real and herself. That's iconic, for me.

For many many reasons, one of which is her participation in the creation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

I'm gonna plump for the emperor Augustus (63BC - AD14)

Who did exceedingly well for himself. At the age of 18 he became heir to Julius Caesar's name and estate and, somehow survived the next 20 years of wars, machinations and civil wars to come out top of the pile, inaugurate the Roman Empire and a golden age of architecture, infrastructure and peace.

As he himself said: "Fine words butter no parsnips."

Very clever man.

No but the Pantheon was built in Rome.

Plenty of songs, only one Pantheon.

But it's all shifting and subjective.

Adolf Hitler was Time's Man Of The Year for 1938.

It's all relative.

One smutty poet vs bring to an end nearly 100 years of political instability?

No contest.
