Cats tend to just want to be left alone in my experience. Put a blanket somewhere she can see it and reach it comfortably and let her decide.

Hope it goes well at the vets.

Yeah I'd make her as comfy as possible. A heat pad or hot water bottle near her and then you'll see if she puts herself on it?

Sorry to hear this lovely. I hope the vet can help tomorrow. x

Anyway of building a nest up around her? She might not be sitting on your thing if it's in an awkward position that hurts her to get comfy on.

It's so horrible when they are hurting xXx

It's awful when this happens. All you can do is make her as comfy as possible and stroke her if she'll tolerate it.

I'm not going anywhere for a bit if you need some hand holding

I'm afraid it may be time for you to let your cat go..as mentioned, cats will want to be by themselves when they are ill and may purr constantly but this is a comforting mechanism for them. It's heart breaking I know. My cat died a year and a half ago now but I still feel guilty because I think I should have had him put to sleep a couple of weeks earlier. I guess I was hoping he would get better.

I still miss him.

One of the hardest things I ever had to do in my life was let my 16 year old jack Russell go. Her legs finally went and she was in pain. Vet called to the house and I held her on her favourite chair as she slipped away. She didn't even fight the vet. Still brings tears to my eyes 20 odd years later. But it's a most precious memory.

Mind yourself it's like losing a part of you if it's her time xx

Yup I Googled it and it's in their code of conduct. Cats sometimes act strange for days when they know the time is approaching so I wouldn't worry about that per se, just if she seems in distress.

Oh sweetie I wish I could help- its heartbreaking reading this. Ring them first thing and demand they come out- I know you don't drive.

I have had to have a cat put down before- I held her while she went, it was the last kind thing I could do for her, surround her with love xxx

No they won't. When my cat was attacked by a dog the first vet I rang said £130 to take her there!!!! I rang PDSA and travelled 8 miles to take her at midnight. Her injuries were that bad I had to have her put to sleep at 9.40am.

I hope your ok

Sadly tigerlily has gone to rainbow bridge, she was very poorly and it had come on quickly, we didn't know how old because she was a rescue cat but he just estimated between 18-20. My vet is so lovely and she went very peacefully but it doesn't stop me being devastated.

As with everyone else here I'm so sorry to hear your news but am proud of you for doing what all of us would have done, exactly what your cat did for you, gave you comfort when you were low,ill or down.

It's brought back memories of a couple of my cats that I've lost over the years from an 18 year old tom to an 8mnth old kitten. I have a tear in my eye but only cos I miss their character, and their ways.

Your cat is now up with mine and everyone else's, happily telling them how much it misses being with you ando watching over us all.

Yes. Please take heed of this advice.

Cats not only purr when content, but also purr when distressed, afraid, ill/sick and when they're in pain.

It might also try to hide away in a darkened corner, as its natural instinct will be to hide its weakness in case predators try to attack, when it's ill.

Please phone that vet, ASAP!

I just want to say thankyou to everyone and the lovely PMS, your a good bunch.

I'm feeling a bit more with it this morning and taking comfort that she did have a good last few years, as all cats she had her own personality and was a calming influence on the others.

IF i had another I wouldn't hesitate to get an older one again but won't even think about until after Christmas
