So off the back of a thread me and Howard were talking about compliments.
I have a theory that in the none fab world (those still plugged into the matrix  ) people don't really compliment men much... It's less of a social norm..
Do you agree? I don't mean your partners, family or anyone you fancy etc but just friends work colleagues etc....
If you think I have a point or if you think I'm off my rocker you may want to include a compliment here to appreciate our male forumites and male halves of the couples xx |

I do.
If a man gets a new haircut or wears a shirt that looks good or matches his eyes, I will tell him that. I compliment women too.
Whenever I get complimented on small things (usually my jewelry), it makes me feel good. So I try to do it for others where appropriate. Even men.

Yeah I think it's cool. I have sometimes complimented some of my mates by saying they look rather dapper on a night out when they have made an effort and smartened themselves up, women on the other hand compliment me by saying I scrub up well  |

Interestingly I forgot to mention I used to reach confidence and theres lots of research showing giving out compliments affects you in the same way as when they are received helping give you a boost. Good to see some yes's |

Yes, especially if they're a good lead on the dance floor, I'm very appreciative, but virtually never if they're angling for one on here for instance. I often compliment guys on pics I find hot though  |

It's more of a cultural thing isn't it? As you say, it's not really the social norm to give men compliments (very often) whereas it is to women.
I often don't even clock or register if I've ever been given a compliment or if I do, I'm crap at accepting them. And I think *most* men are the same. |

Just saying for balance really.
I don't agree with them personally and they make me feel a little uncomfortable - it took me a while to just smile and just say thanks.
It's nice I guess all the same. |

I think there is a culture of it not being the norm. Do people compliment stranger s too? Sometimes I will a woman but I don't remember ever paying a compliment to a guy I didn't know.... |

I never used to get compliments.
Then I joined fab and started getting compliments.
Now I get compliments from both men and women!
Feeling better about myself as a result of Fab (even though you can't really believe anything on here!) has transferred to real life. I'm far more relaxed and confident, which I think many people respond to. |

I can totally relate to this. I never used to get compliments myself, but since joining fab I get lots in real life. I guess feeling better about my looks has made me make more of an effort with myself xx |

My experience is, in my non fab world I have compliments daily from the ladies
In fab world I tend to find the compliments are more guarded seeming not to appear too keen xx |

I do. If the guy has taken the time over his appearance and smells good too (that's good, not expensive. I've met some guys that tell me the sent and it's expensive but smells worse than sour piss). Well I'll let him know. if we have a good time then I'll let him know too. After all its nice to hear a compliment. X |

It's easier to compliment women.
Especially as a guy.

I do complement my fellow chap forumites. Some of their pictures are amazing chaps and yes I have done my own twist on a few.
Complements are always nice and its jolly lovely to pass on and receive them .

Personally, I am a natural sceptic, so yes I do find most compliments on here are a means to be looked upon favourably, I mean I don't have face pics on here publically but the amount of 'Wow your stunning messages' I get is quite laughable, as I could be the ugliest female on here, and yes I have seen this in the chat rooms as well.
And when I have seen this I have gone to have a sneaky peak and end up thinking
So no wonder I am a sceptical bitch at times |

I treat them both the same to be honest...it's the same but different but still hoping to make themselves seen in a favorable light.

Like I previously stated on another thread I've never been complimented about my physical appearance in real life. I can't say this bothered me or even crossed my mind until I came on Fab and started getting the odd compliment. It was then I realised what a boost to the self-confidence it is. Incredible really. I wish I could have got some of that years ago. It would have done wonders for me, I think.
I'm always one for paying compliments myself. As any lady I know will tell you. There's nothing I like more than telling a woman how amazing I think she looks. I never do it to get anything back in return though. I only do it if I genuinely mean it. |

Ive had a couple of compliments now and again in my working day. Surprises me reallly.
One man I dont want compliments from and the other was very young, bit embarrassed at that one. No I didnt say anything back to them.

I'm starting to compliment Fabbers without any care for reciprocation or anything.

"I just see a bloody good photo, I fab it and message the owner saying I really like their photo's.

I have done this too on occasion. Sometimes it takes people back a bit. But sometimes a pic desrves more than a fab. Its nice to let them know you appreciate the time and effort they put in, especially if it is a well done pic. |

what do you mean do it for real?..i am always 'real'...on here or anywhere else..i dont do online personas...thats the problem with peeps...they cant tell when someone is 'real' or not..  |

i do, but the problem is i dont want that to be taken as instant access to my knickers sign..because it doesnt come from that space..at all. for years ive avoided giving out mixed messages..its very difficult sometimes to get a man to receive, purely on account of wanting to say something nice... |

I can't say this bothered me or even crossed my mind until I came on Fab and started getting the odd compliment. It was then I realised what a boost to the self-confidence it is. Incredible really. I wish I could have got some of that years ago. It would have done wonders for me, I think.
I'm always one for paying compliments myself. As any lady I know will tell you. There's nothing I like more than telling a woman how amazing I think she looks. I never do it to get anything back in return though. I only do it if I genuinely mean it.. Bout time you showed up
