Unreasonable request

Derbyshire

Mr DDC has requested an orange drizzle cake for his upcoming birthday complete with decoration on top of orange smarties on blobs of orange buttercream icing.

As far as I'm aware orange smarties are not sold separately so I'll have to buy a number of packs of smarties to get the requisite number for the top of the cake.

He won't even disclose how many are expected.

Is this an unreasonable request?

Not strictly Smarties but non Nestlé single coloured smartie clones can be ordered from eBay if you have the time. They are listed as Chocolate Beans *Just Like Smarties*.

I might be able to afford that number (no other pressure though!) but oven not big enough to bake cake large enough to accommodate them.

As far as I'm aware orange smarties are not sold separately so I'll have to buy a number of packs of smarties to get the requisite number for the top of the cake.

He won't even disclose how many are expected.

Only Smarties have the answer. I reckon you should grate a Chocolate Orange and sprinkle the grated Chocolate Orange on top of the cake you're gonna bake. Or just buy a packet of Jaffa Cakes.

Is this an unreasonable request?

Mrs DDC

Only Smarties have the answer. I reckon you should grate a Chocolate Orange and sprinkle the grated Chocolate Orange on top of the cake you're gonna bake. Or just buy a packet of Jaffa Cakes.

Or buy a Jaffa cake cake! They're yum! "

"Mr DDC has requested an orange drizzle cake for his upcoming birthday complete with decoration on top of orange smarties on blobs of orange buttercream icing.

As far as I'm aware orange smarties are not sold separately so I'll have to buy a number of packs of smarties to get the requisite number for the top of the cake.

He won't even disclose how many are expected.

I'm adding a choc orange to my shopping list for culinary purposes you understand.

"Would Skittles work? They may have a higher orange to other colours ratio?

No no no, Skittles go in Vodka. "

He already makes his own orange vodka liqueur, I'm spotting a preference pattern. Yes, I'd better put an orange at the bottom of his Christmas stocking.

"Just buy orange tictacs he'll never know the difference "

Knowing him he might ask for a tiny blob of icing on each orange smartie to glue an orange Tictac in place!

This cake might take me hours.

You're going to put Dale Winton at the bottom of his stocking?

Sounds reasonable to me.

I spent ages picking out the orange smarties at a pick and mix, for my sister's birthday once. Ok, I didn't drizzle over her slice. Orange smarties are leagues ahead of the rest. They'd get skyrocketing sales if other colours had great tastes too.

Get us around to help fix his dream, you're only just up the road.

it is quite an eccentric exclamation indeed, but munch the rest and the sugar rush will make up for it

No he is making a perfectly reasonable request.

We hope you are making the cake big enough for a surprise swinging partner to jump out and seduce him.
