I've been talking to a lovely lady on here who confused me earlier by purporting not to know who Yoda was - she has just told me she has never seen a Star Wars film or a Star Trek film or a James Bond film.
I'm gobsmacked.

I can understand not having watched the films, but not knowing who Yoda is at all means she must have been confused by a lot of adverts and sentence-structure based jokes |

Exactly, some things are just common knowledge aren't they. I've never watched a Harry Potter or Twilight film but I can still name the main characters. |

Grew up with Star Trek from Captain James T Kirk onwards.
And I can tell you most Kames Bond films, who did the soundtrack, who the villains were who the Bonds were!

I have an annual watch of the Star Wars series (all 6) and Lord of the Rings (director's cut, of course).
You'll have to chain me down to get me to watch a Bond film.

primarily for the star trekkers..
science and fantasy(some of it has now become quite real with our current technology)..is a mans area?..quite sad that really..
I'd say look really close at what star trek was giving us from its early days and right into today...almost everything has been tackled, from equality, tolerance and a fascination of the universe we live in.
Many of todays scientists grew up with these outlandish stories set in galaxies far far away
it always makes me sad when science is touted as a 'mans' thing, especially from women...I can only imagine this comes from being brought up to believe women are meant for superficial roles..
but I guess some are really just happy that they can have bi-conic super pollimure pore reduction cream with added ultra-bond cellulite micro cleansing peptides.

Here's even more fun: Google 'Star Wars and Dambusters' and you can watch the dam attack scene from the dambusters with the soundtrack from the attack on the Death Star and also the other way round - the attack on the Death Star with the soundtrack from the dambusters.
Even better.....
Google 'Star Wars in San Francisco' and you can watch tie fighters fly through the Bay Area
It's a visual orgasm, folks |
