Caught 20 minutes of x factor tonight, and it seems to be losing it's mojo. Looks like Simon Cowell can't even be arsed, as he is now lookinh like bloke who's been on holiday for 2 weeks and cant be bothered to shave. |

It's fake and set up, a friend of ours who auditioned some years ago said on the day there was no judges just lots of producers who see people on mass, she sings in clubs and pubs as a duo and is ok, they were auditioned by producers for what she said was seconds and then they hand picked people to return on a different day for the judges filming, She's probably not super star quality but far better then some of the wollies who can't sing and get on, it just proved its all set up in the early stages, it's about time they called it a day the voice is much better you get quality singers from the start |

As an entertainment show it fills the weekend prime spot well, it's the countdown to Xmas As a talent show, well that's debatable.
Whether you love it or hate it tho, the show has longevity & is incredibly successfull. |

Watched it tonight for the first time in ages. The whole six chair challenge seemed very cruel on the contestants.
Somebody may take rejection badly one day leading to something tragic. |

"X-factor jumped the shark at least ten years ago! I can't believe people still watch this shite."
As soon as people stop watching it will no longer be shown. If you don't watch how do you know it's shite? |

"I am going to be the minority but I love it, it passes away my weekend nights on my own "
I love it too and there really are some good singers this year
The engineer it though. You know that all the good ones won't go through because they don't tick some box or other |

Never seen any of the reality talent shows, apart from maybe walking through a room wjen someone elsw has it on.
I would rather nail my gentleman parts to a block of wood for the duration they are on than be subjected to the inane drivel.. |

I went and saw one of the auditors for this season live (got dragged by a friend) it's very stage managed when the acts are on you're only slowed to cheer etc nothing negative or you're out
But before the show starts they film a load of reaction shots like reacting in shock.
So whenever you see the closure of the crowd all spearing shocked/as if they don't like the person onstage it's a prefilled reaction shot and not the actual reaction of the crowd on the day.

I used to love it! Along with I'm a celebrity, the Apprentice and Strictly: my _iewing heaven.
Now, only Strictly does it for me, but I'm not going to mock those that still love the programme.
I stopped watching it because I thought it had it's day, and that was when Joe won. |

I have a love/hate relationship with it, but I still watch it every week.
If only there was more than one channel and you didn't have to watch it if you feel so strongly about it |

I still watch it (sort of). But the thing that bugs me the most is the sheer desperation. At least three contestants said they were "fighting for their lives" in the little pleading bit. No, you're not. |

It is totally set up, they know who's going through from very very early on.
Someone I know very well *ahem ahem* got through to boot camp a few years ago, and a certain Cher Lloyd had already had the crew to her house.... |

I stopped watching after Abi Alton was voted off last year (singer, songwriter, piano and guitar player with unique style and lovely voice). What's they mix up the styles even week to exclude and filters out the unique and only allow the bland and generic through? |

Watching it for the first time this season. On the whole utter piffle (the judges, over production, terrible judges) but some decent vocalists this year.
Format has run it's course. Hope they don't renew it when the contract runs out next year. |

Surely she was voted off because she was immensely, incredibly irritating?
Other than that I see your point. |

She may have been talented but she wasn't a performer & that is what on an 'entertainment' show defines talent. |

I would love to see an x factor for proper bands not just vocalists I only watch the auditions does get boring but good platform for real talent the ones with the best careers are the ones that never won the competition x |

Was she a Saturday night TV singer who could alternate between Big Band, Michael Jackson week, 70s disco, etc, etc for family TV?
Nope!
I actually laughed yesterday when I heard the judges coming out to Kashmir by Led Zeppelin! As if they would ever vote through original bands, innovators and future classics! |

Just following on from the last post , I caught a bit . One of the judges was talking about markets and sales.
X factor is about pre packaged pop. It does have its place and I respect those who like it.
Its not for me , it lacks passion , art , feeling and originality.
I dont doubt the acts have q passion for what they do , though I get a feeling they want fame for fames sake

Exactly ~ that's why it should be treated as a saturday entertainment show like blind date, saturday night take away & NOT a show to discover future artists.
Every now & then tho they do find someone so it ticks all the boxes.
I just don't get all the angst around the show, don't like it ?!~ switch it off! |

dated a girl once who had to watch every show, even the itv 2 stuff, she had to watch that, all the dancing shows, big brother, jungle, soaps, its fair to say she had zero life after work and it had to end.
Personally shows like that are just a distraction, to keep the masses away from discovering truths of how corporations control every aspect of their life, poisoned by the food they eat, lied to by the governments they choose, made to hate the poor/benefit people rather than those doing the real damage to the world |

I'm shocked people are so interested still. Where's the excitement in finding a new good singer when we already have plenty constantly covering each other's songs? |

Why? Are watching reality tv shows and having a clue about what's going on in the world mutually exclusive? |

I hate this attitude. If I want to watch Strictly I'll watch Strictly. If I want to read Chekhov I'll read Chekhov. If I want to listen to Britney I'll listen to Britney. If I want to listen to Dvorák? I'll listen to Dvorák?. I'm not any more or less informed about the world depending on what I feel like doing. I do choose not to be a slave to conspiracy theories though. |

maybe the current rumour of "the voice" going from BBC to ITV next year.... and the x factor going from ITV to Sky tells you what you need to know.... |

I love GBBO and BGT (I even use the initials, go me!), quite like Don;t Tell the Bride and will still enthuse about how the first few serie of Big Brother was great TV and a fascinating social experiment. And I'll laugh in the face of anyone who thinks I'm not informed and that I'm not very much aware of what is going n in the world |
