I am really struggling today...not sure if it is the last of the snow melting here or just the getting closer to Christmas but have been on the verge of tears all day,really wishing I could go home for the holidays...or well...win the lotto and ship all my friends and family over from Canada as I hate it being sooooo cold now over there...lol |

I think what has not helped either is that my ex's mum, with whom I am still close, decided not to come and see the kids today as planned as she will not see them on christmas day. instead she is staying 6 miles up the road at ex sister in law's.she went from visiting her son in gosport straight to there, where she would have had to come very close to passing near us, so could have even just popped in to wish them a happy christmas and exchange gifts with them. his family can see the kids anytime and don't. Mine live thousands of miles away and would kill for the oppertunity to just drive 15 min to visit...not once a year for my mum and 2 or 3 years between visits to the rest.
It just really hurt seeing their faces when I had to say nanny was not coming to see them. |

I think maybe there's something in the water today... I felt the same way all day. My folks are away just now so I'm on my own for Christmas. Lots of people have invited me to theirs for the day and it's really been very kind of them. I just think I'm gonna be a bit miserable so best to stay at home and then my mum sent me a text this morning and said she was missing me. Made me cry like a proper sad sack. 
I decided to try and pull myself out of it and went for a swim after work... feel miles better for it too.
Am sorry you're having a pants day YM... that really does suck. I hope you feel better tomorrow. |

i've done the same and turned down offers for exactly the same reason.
but upon hearing everyone struggling in supermarkets and struggling over their well matured beef ribs and the size of their goose....i am actually sitting here with a bottle of fizzy...all to myself...and feeling rather bloody smug!
i possibly will never repeat it, but i'm certainly not going to regret it  |

on the day itself the ex is coming over in the morning to open presents with the winks then I am doing a bit of a lunch so I get to spend the afternoon with the kids too before they are off for the rest of christmas with their dad. next Christmas my mum is coming over here. |
