Iphone 6 or Samsung 6...

Hi all!!
I am looking to get one of the above, but Id like some opinions before I dive in... Ive always had an iPhone and would love to make the change to Samsung, I'm just not too sure which is best out of the new releases...

I got a galaxy note 4. Great specs in Samsung phones which always sold me. Seem to get more bang for your buck.
Each to their own though I know people who prefer iphones. |

Yes I like the thought of basically having a computer in phone form, which Samsung delivers. I just don't want it to be all to confusing and then wishing I had just gone for the iPhone... x |

The specs on Android phones are mostly evil lies. Most decent benchmarks show that they're much slower than the numbers on the box suggest they should be, especially for web browsing.
The customer satisfaction numbers for smartphones show very few iPhone owners switch to Samsung - but the reverse is quite common. Make of that what you will. |

I struggle a lot for memory with the iPhone too actually...
But how does the download compare? I know iPhone uses safe and secure apps, what does Samsung do to prevent viruses as such? x |

Really ?
Anecdotal evidence would suggest that there are more switching from iOS to Android 
On a personal basis I'm on a Samsung Galaxy A5 and love it 
And in my experience they're a lot tougher than apples
Plus you'll save on any contract, and have better battery life |

We both use I phone 6+ and have Macs too
Tried android and didn't like it.
At the end of the day choose the one you like best.
Unfortunately there are some strange people who feel the need to berate someone who chooses the rival system, utter twats.

I have the iPhone 6s full of pointless apps that I never use and use it a lot, since I got the 6s I've not had any battery problems which was always a problem on my 5s the camera is much better than it used to be and it feels nice in your hand I've never had a galaxy but I don't think I would change over for a while personally |

I've had a windows phone for years and got an iPhone last year, the smaller 4s, I hated it, got the 6 now imo, still not got as many features as the window phones. |

Oh ok so this is becoming rather mixed... There are so many different things you can do with a Samsung to personalise, that you can't really do with an iPhone... The anti virus is good! I would like to try all the new things, but then I think how often will I use them features...?
I'm a cheapskate and I'll keep my phone until it's on his last breath haha I just don't want to make the wrong choice... Hmm... x |

Samsung phones are full of bloatware from the moment tou buy them.iphones are expensive but you get what you pay for. I was a commited android user until the force was too strong on the 6plus.
TBH wish i had of made the jump sooner (just make sure you get one with decent memory 64gb at least) |

the choice of phone or computer or car is all the same really, it's not about what it can do but what YOU want to do with it, daft to buy a Ferrari when you need to take the kids to school on the way to the builders merchants to pick up a sheet of plywood...
Best advice I can give is write down what you want from a phone, go to the shop and don't get led too far from your list. |

I'm not a very technical girl... I don't really know what I want from my phone or what they can do that Id want...
The problems I have now include memory, battery, speed and restrictions... I'm currently using iPhone and I'm not sure which one triumphs in these areas...
Also on the lookout for a technical man who can sort these things out for me in future haha  |

I adore Samsung galaxy devices or notes it all depends on what you like in a phones. Maybe borrow an older version off a friend or play with them in the shop before making a decision xx |

I used to say samsung everytime. However the S5 and S6 only have 4G not 3G according to the O2 website and as we dont have 4G in my town that would leave me with only wifi net and no connection elsewhere so no thanks. Im sticking with my S4 as long as possible |

I don't think iPhone or IOS are inherently bad, but they just don't suit me. I'm not a fan of IOS and don't like the Apple "walled garden" and the way it forces you to use iTunes to sync music.
So, I use a Note 4...
I like to plug my phone into the computer and have everything visible in proper folders (even though I have both a Mac and a PC)
I like to be able to customise my home screen.
My Note 4 has a 16mp camera, and a built in stylus.
I can get delivery reports for text messages.
I can set software defaults and not be stuck with the default browser, home screen, calendar, email app, text messaging app or anything else.

A 4G phone will connect to a 3g network perfectly ok

Really? Ok cool thanks thats opened up my options its just O2 list the S4 as 3G/4G and the s5 and S6 only say 4G so assumed it wouldnt connect to 3G |

Stick with the iPhone. The Samsung mistake is it being customisable. Sounds good until you try it. You get it out your pocket and sneeze and the whole thing is upside down. Aps all over, clock fucked up and the weather in Peking on your display. It's like driving along in your car to find the brake pedal has been customised into the boot of your car to add boot space fun!!!!

I went from an iPhone to a Note 2. With no problems at all. Got a Note 4 now. Did look at the iPhone 6 Plus. Would have had to pay the same as the Note per month, but pay £100 in store. So I went with the Note again!

I upgraded to a Sony Experia in August.. Had to change it on the 15th sept and 4th October due to faults!!
Last week o2 cleared my refresh and I swapped to a iPhone 6. I'd always gone with the Experia coz I like the operating system which is the same one as Samsung. It was easy. But wouldn't go back now |

me and the kids all have samsung phones - im curious to try an iphone but keep hearing bad things and moans of smashed screens etc - plus the apple cost thing so stick to samsung - i figure the kids know better than me anyway |

Yup they have removed the expandable storage, but I wouldn't call upto 128 GB limited (which is what is available in the S6, Edge and Edge+). |

I had 4 windows phones, but when Microsoft released WinPhone 7 and did away with the ability to sync Outlook data directly with the phone I needed to find a replacement. I ended up looking at the iPhone, until the restrictions drove me up the wall. Fortunatly Samsung produce a handy little piece of software that syncs Outlook data with their phones.
So I got an SII, which was followed by a Note 3, both are very good phones and still going strong (the Note is my current phone the SII is used when rowing as an emergency phone and as a stroke meter).
The Note is due for replacement soon, and I am stuck with what to get, especially as I rather like the S-Pen (stylus thingy). The problem is that the Note 5 is rather a poor relative to its predecessors, only 64 GB internal memory, no expandable memory, smaller battery and most important not being sold in Europe. So I'll probably see if I can get a Note 4 or keep the Note 3 and swap to a sim only contract.
In your case the changes Samsung have made with their latest phones may make things even easier for you as they have become more like Apple, at least from a hardware perspective. Software wise they are still highly customisable, but have a lot less of the blotware people hate and their touchwiz overlay is a lot less obtrusive and easier to use for it.
The fact that my mum, who is not technically minded at all, has a Samsung A3 and Note 10.1 says a lot about how usable they are.
However, inspite of obviously prefering Samsung devices, I would say your best bet is as has been suggested by others, decide what you want the device to do, and then have a darn good play with a few in the shop (or borrow one if someone has one spare).
Either way I doubt you can go too far wrong what ever you decide.

I hated the iphone 6plus so much that after having it for 6 months i bought out the contract and got myself a note4. Sooooo much better. The way an iphone limits your options to control what apps you use etc is ridiculous. Obviously it is personal preference and only you can decide but i would recommend samsung phones. |

My Sammy S5 has been brilliant! In the same time I have had this phone, my daughter has been back to the Apple shop in MK four times! Notoriously unreliable and the way Apple get round it? They swap her phone and sync her old with the new! That way no one complains!
Do not drop an I-Phone! It will break... Don't expect to use it all day long if you take pictures and want to use the internet! My S5 lasts nearly two days and I upload pictures for our charity Facebook page, probably 20 a day!
BUT.. End of the day buy what you find easy to use. Android phones are very easy to use and you can customise then pretty well as you want the screens to look. Forget that comment above about the screens getting mixed up, it patently isn't true! Just an I-Clone trying to muddy the waters! Look on the internet to check on what I have put above, it is all there... |
