Hiya ladies (and men if it applies),
I was just thinking about going out tonight and what I would have to do to get ready and immediately I thought of my hair.
I like to straighten my hair, but because it is so long and thick, the process takes about 2 hours. So I usually just clip it up.
I was wondering, how long do you ladies usually spend sorting out your hair for a night out?

I use a no heat curls headband method the night before, take it down around lunchtime and then comb it out in the evening for retro waves. If I need to straighten and blow-dry it it takes about an hour so I can't often be arsed. My hair is stupidly thick. |

If you fancy waves, YouTube 'overnight curls' or 'headband curls'
I have poker straight Asian hair and used to use Velcro roller, tongs, bendy rollers etc.
But this technique is awesome because it's SO fast. Plus, you can sleep in it, as a headband is so soft.
Binned all my rollers and tongs. Big thumbs up!

Mine takes 20 mins whether i'm out or just for a normal day. I have a short bob though. My hair is thick and wavy but 20 mins includes blow drying and straightening.
When my hair is longer (shoulder length) a blow dry and straightening takes an hour.
Lop it all off! Liberation. |

pretty much.. im really not 'girlie' night out start off with my hair down (providings its dry its just brushed and naturally straight) and it normally annoys me after a while so it goes back into the half bun type thing. |

I can straighten mine in about 15 mins...it's fairly long and quite thick. I never wash it just before going out either. I'll wash it and let it dry naturally in the morning and then straighten it in the evening. |

When I had long hair it was so thick and curly it would take hours to straighten, so I never did. If I blow-dried it or brushed it it would go frizzy, so I never did! I don't do either of those things now either. It must be the lowest maintenance hair in existence |

oh i have genuinely been those colours,, its just that i tried a wig before i went ahead with the dye.
bright red was more my colour.. curently im just a gingery browny colour. not had a cut/colour for a year now |

An ex-boss of mine had the most incredible dark, curly hair down to her waist.
She straightened it every day and it always looked terrible because of how much heat it took to do it.
She came in one day with it just washed and natural - than k fuck her hubby was a good friend of mine or it could have got messy.... |

I couldn't spend that long getting ready for anything.
I spend about 10 minutes on my hair, including washing it and wrapping it in the turban towel.
It's big naturally curly hair that doesn't hold straight for long. I had it straightened once, left the salon got lots of compliments then it started to drizzle and the curls pinged back in a frizzy second.

If you don't include drying then it takes the length of time to put a bit of spray.
The joys of having short hair, it actually takes longer to get my glasses on right so the side bits don't stick out then anything else |

I can't have short hair. I did once but my hair is so thick it just puffs out when its short. |

5mins max that includes washing it .used to be really thick and long but thanks to stress has really thinned out and fell out so now keep it short ..

I used to have a drawer full of big clips. My hair is thick and naturally wildly, but unevenly, curly at the back. I then discovered yuko, a chemical hair straightening treatment although tortuous at the same time. It's my one real indulgence every 9-12 months. Tames the wildness totally so I can wear my hair loose until there is sufficient regrowth, and funds, to do it all again

F likes to shower/condition/dry before a night out.
But considering e.g. the hot tub at Chameleons is full of chlorine, it's not worth fussing over for too long.

Sometimes mine doesn't even take that long. Sometimes it dries naturally and looks really nice. I don't do anything to it then. |

I honestly don't do it often. Hence why my hair is in a clip in most of my pics.
I wish I had time to do it more often,though. Or that I had naturally straight or curly hair. |

Nano keratin relaxant treatment. Costly, but my shoulder length naturally spiral curled with lots of frizz very thick hair then takes 5 mins to dry and tweak with straighteners, and on a much lower heat on the hair dryer and straighteners.  |

If I'm going out I get my daughter to do my hair. I wash it and apply Macadamia nut oil then let it dry naturally. My hair ends up however my daughter decides to do it. 20 minutes to straighten,maybe 10 to put it up if she's in the mood and depending on what I'm wearing. Sometimes no straighteners just a curling iron to neaten up the waves . |

From washing to finished, an hour or less. It's super thick but I tend to blast dry then curl with tongs, since I go for quite a messy look anyway then it doesn't take long. Maybe longer if I'm using hair extensions. |

i have my hair razor cut, so its naturally the way it is...wavy.
im lucky its not that thick, i just have a lot of it, and dries on its own fairly quick..
when had short hair used to straighten it..nightmare...
now its long and i want something different i curl it..takes about 45 mins to curl the way i do it..
getting it to look right if i put it up, takes longer..
so normally 10 mins...
full on hair up, curling episode, style... i allow over an hour, for the faffing |

My hair is long, thick & lots of it. I've been resisting a visit to the hairdressers as I'll end up chopping it back to a bob.
It takes a good 60-90 mins to dry & straighten. It was always short when I was young so I never learnt how to put it up properly but YouTube is good |

I have naturally curly/wavy hair and i don't do anything different for a night out than what i do every morning getting ready. I wash and condition it with a good shampoo and conditioner. Then comb it. Give it a quick 40 second (if that) blast with a hair dryer (i have a really good one that stops my hair frizzing). Then kind of push it upwards to encourage the curls and leave it be
Althogether it takes approx 10 mins however i always bath at the same time so the whole process including the bath takes a bit longer but the hair part is approx 10 mins.
I get lots of compliments about my hair because of it's natural colour and wavy curls |

That's why I rarely bother and it always looks messy or gets shoved up in a plait. Curling it by pinning it up when it's wet round a hairband can be done while sat on the sofa watching a movie. That boredom I can just about stomach. I often get up the morning after I've done that and just leave it pinned up for work. Looks quite cute, like a messy Victorian school ma'am do. |

Yep I've been know to do that too!!
Now I let it dry naturally, whack some conditioning mouse in and twist it with my fingers for a better curl.
I can put my hair in various updo styles in less than 5 mins, brilliant for the office or dodgy hair days.

I'm a girly girl, but my hair is easy to manage as it is so fine, so wash, condition, and about 10 mins to dry.....(after I have the correct hair lines etc)

I'm popping over there then. I'm still pretty much a make-up novice but YouTube has been a very good friend in the learning department. Plus some fantastic tips from some of the forum ladies. |

my hair naturally curly - wash and leave in towel for about half hour - give it a gentle rub and spray in something to prevent frizz - leave to dry - just before i go out tip my head upside down and apply hairspray - crazy hair but i love it |
