Most definitely the areal. Simple cheap fix.
I would never recommend taking a car to Halfrauds though. I wouldn't even let those morons pump my tyres up. |

Awful noise isn't it, to near to any building and it's impossible to listen to so driving through Manchester for example is hideous! |

I would whole heartedly recommend upgrading to a decent alpine head unit, at least one subwoofer...amped off either sundown or audison and a nice pair of components from hetz....stick them on a hertz amp too
Talksport will never of sounded better |

Could be the earthing of the aerial.
If it matches engine speed....like gets worse the higher the rpm it's the ignition.
Could also be other electrical circuits, I've got a big after market audio install and have had an issue where a component speaker had a dodgy wire and would make a whining sound that matched engine intensity. |

"Out of interest. Do you have you're phone charging through the cigar lighter
That makes it worse when I do! "
That could imply an rather fault. Earth connections are black wires usually connected to bare metal all round the car. The main one usually runs from the battery negative terminal to the chasis leg and then down to the gearbox casing. It's also one that causes the most problems because it gets covered in dirt and corrosion. Un-bolt it, clean the connectors and points where it fits and then re-connect everything.
There may also be an earth behind the head unit that could have come loose. |

Not really one for listening to the wireless, but you may want to upgrade to a DAB I did mine a year back and the quality is so much better, also had to buy a aerial booster for my current aerial, DABS are fairly cheap nowadays. Think you can get them in single/double din (not sure what focus size is) but you get loads more stations. |
