"If, in sending a message, what is the need for an essay about this and that when it can be easily read on a senders profile?
"
I've given up sending lengthy first messages - something quick and ideally a bit witty....attach a couple of clear face pics and if they are interested that is usually enough to trigger a response.. |

I agree, simple really. |

If someone sends me a message and it refers to what I'm looking for in my profile then I'm much more likely to reply. I get so many messages, short messages don't interest me. It also makes me think they are sending the same message to lots of women and are pretty indiscriminate about who they will meet. But that's just me. |

"Short and sweet, mention something in their profile so they know you've read it, and if the opportunity presents itself, make them laugh."
Keep it reasonably succinct and to the point, make it personal to them so it's not just another copy and paste, and say a little about yourself but no need to re-quote your profile verbatim.
I'll often try and direct them to my profile, something along the lines of 'my profile says a lot more about me, so I won't bore you by repeating it all here' - whether that works or not who knows? Some people reply, others don't! |

Avoid "hey" "how you finding the site"
Keep it breezy witty and ideally with what your looking for? will work for us quite happily. None of that codeword BS either. |

If someone has a really good profile that actually says something about them, then the message doesn't have to be anything special. The profile is key.
However, if the messages continue along a bland and boring track, then even a good profile won't matter.

If there is a face pic that I'm attracted to them the message isn't that important unless it's abusive.
The message could be really funny & witty but if I'm not attracted to the face, then it's pointless. |
