it depends how long someone has been here.... the longer you are around english people, the more you "get" it... although queueing and saying sorry for everything I will never get... |

"
Hello Matey, why do you hate the term BBC?"
because it boils down everything to the lowest feature.... (this next bit is going to be hated by everyone that has BBC on their profile)
I'd rather be known for, and be defined by, something that I have full control over... rather than something I just happen to have....
so, being black, and being from the south, and knowing what they went thru is absolutely part of me, but it isn't what defines me....
I get to define the parameters of what makes me.... so i am a nice guy, who happens to be black... than a black guy, who just happens to be nice.... onus on the thing i get to control!!!
so when i see people ask for... or play up to said stereotype.. i think "is that the best you see of yourself.. and find it sad.... |

That's kind of what i guessed the answer would be, if I'd written that, I would have be called PC brigade or looney leftie, I tried to explain on another thread and people who fetishise Amputees, seeing their disability and not them, the person, so with you on that one. |

interesting _abio must have been quite a turn accent wise bet it was quite the change moving to the U.K. ....my family came to the u.k. in the 1970s and my mother in the 1980s....
she still sometimes has little remnants off her old accent which I like to hear and occasionally poke fun at ... |

My heart dropped when I saw POC in such a bad way, knew it wasn't good.
SOB will def be out, from footage I saw it was a very clear strike.

I think bernie has done a lot better so far than i thought he would originally do... I like him, i think hillary has moved certain positions in the last few weeks that bernie has been on for a long time (gay marriage, keystone pipeline ect)
i think hillary wins iowa, bernie wins new hampshire.... but if bernie can win both... it will be interesting.... |

I was very fortunate to be taken to a Bulls game at the United Centre. Everything was done superbly and a great spectacle, however as a game basketball is terrible. I was told it was invented to give constant scoring as the fans didn't have a long attention span(cruel and inaccurate but funny) do you enjoy it and which is your team. |

my first ever munch/social was the nottingham social many moons ago (they managed to persuade a 3 story pub in the middle of nottingham city centre to go private function on a saturday night for 150-200 of us nutters....)
(i am going to have to explain to the youngens now that "back in the day" they use to have whole site socials where forum and chatroom would come together... and they happened 4-5 times a year so people use to travel from all over the country and make full weekends of them)
i remember feeling so nervous... absolutely brilliant night! |

"Hi Fabio, Mrs L here.
My question is if you were on a date would you prefer to cook a meal for someone or have them cook for you ?
Us swingers love food. "
first couple of dates... i like to be on neutral territory... think its only fair plus it takes some of the "other" stuff out of the equation......

Fabio, where/when was your first munch/social?
my first ever munch/social was the nottingham social many moons ago (they managed to persuade a 3 story pub in the middle of nottingham city centre to go private function on a saturday night for 150-200 of us nutters....)

"The second amendment.

oh.... guns... me no likely....
i am all for common sense gun reform.... for example... no one really needs an assualt rifle unless you are in the middle of a warzone... so they would go!
extended magazines would go... there is not case where you ever need 30 bullets where 10 would more than solve the job!
i would limit the amount of ammo anyone person could have.... unless for historical purposes you don't need a lot of guns.... 1 for security, 1 for hunting!
want me to go on.....
things i would sort out in a "_abio" administration!!! lol |

civil rights has come a long way... i would get rid of a lot of the voter registration obsticles that the republicans have now put in...
healthcare... i think a US style NHS would be brilliant.. also the "nhs" is a dirty word in the states, you may almost be commie!!!
workers rights... LA and Chicago now have minimum wage statutes of 15 dollars an hour.. that i would extend nation wide! |

trust me... they were.... you could almost reel them off for the time of year they happened... and organisers wouldn't step on each others toes and spaced them out...
so you had an event in nottingham, then essex, doncaster, glasgow, bristol, wigan, newcastle, manchester |

You know I think there's a genuine air of change in the states, the long held American dream no longer seems a reality but definitely a dream and the youth have seen that... You know those socialist Europeans, they get health care and paid holidays and sick pay and not only that but hey look... A lot of our Hollywood actors have abandoned LA for France and Italy and London and Spain.
Maybe all this socialist bullshit we've been feed for years is just that |

I always found american food to be really bland, none of the fruitvor veg tasted of anything...and they only cook in degress of hot rather than complex flavours. And everything is much sweeter over there.. (bread especiallh)
What are your views on the differences in english and American palates?
see that is interesting... because i bet if you ask a lot of americans who come here, they will say that english food is bland..."

the problem is that they almost turned the word "socialist" into a dirty word or an insult... which is why you hear the word "progressive or liberal" instead....
bernie is kinda taking the term back... he was always a social democrat.. he looks towards europe for the best in which can enrich the states... it will be interesting to see the other side try to say no to free healthcare and no to free university education |

It was only about a programme you said you were looking forward to watching with Jack Black. Can't remember what it was called now.
Don't worry, I reported you as a fake and a timewaster |

Just to get them out of the way-
If you like dry sracastic humour seek out the Scots! My natural hair colour is a combination of brunette/blonde/auburn. I'm asked where I get it done but I don't that's my natural colouring. Brown eyes but big smile.
As a genuine lentil/quorn eating, pacifistic, free-loving hippy I've wanted to visit Greenwich village and haight Ashbury for years but understand they don't have the same vibe any more, so where in the states does?
(Though I would head to new York for the theatre happily - not Broadway) |

"When they throw the bags of nuts to spectators in sports' stadiums, how do the people that throw them get paid?"
they may throw you the nuts.... but the money gets passed down the line...
they don't really do that at baseball games anymore... they make you go to the food stands now for beer and hotdogs!!! |
