Just been to gym. Got home and realised I had lost my wallet with £50 all my cards and train tickets for tommoro. I rung the gym and someone had handed it in. It's so lovely to know that there are honest people in this world. I would like to think I would do the same. Hand on hearts , What would you do ?

Hand it in. I have done. And twice with phones. I'd be horrified if I lost either. It's the right thing to do.

Glad you got yours back, restore faith in human nature.

I found a wallet with a passport and £500 in it when I was working on the ferries a few years ago, handed it in. Got a letter to my work a couple of weeks later thanking me as the guy was on business when his wife went into premature labour and the money and his passport were getting him home for the birth of his son

Hand it in for sure.

When I was running a restaurant for someone years ago a guy left his wallet behind.

One of the waitresses found it and gave it to me to out int he safe until he came back. He didn't come back.

He telephoned the next day because he'd only just managed to remember it might be with us. I said we had it and he said "I don't suppose there is any money in it". I said we had not looked inside it but I could see a load of notes peeping out the top.

He was surprised it was still there. I think people are good on the whole

Anyway, the reason I tell this tale is because the money was to buy an engagement ring and to take his gf out that night for a fancy meal and to propose. What a crap day to lose your wallet!

I was behind an older lady at a cashpoint one day and she took her card and receipt and walked off leaving the money in the slot, I shouted her straight away without hesitation, money is precious these days and I'd hate to think what would of happened if it hadn't been me stood behind her

Treat people and their posessions the way you want to be treated.

I left my purse on my car roof once and it slid off at a traffic island- someone picked it up and took it home and rang me to go and collect it, I was very lucky and grateful x

I lost my purse once (well actually twice!)

I left it on the roof of my car (as you do) a milkman found it and he took it back to the depot and gave it in....to my dad who was the supervisor! I was so far from home when it slid off!

Then there was the time I drop it outside the fish and chip shop; a young lad found it and saw the pictures of my kids in their school unform, his mum contacted their school and I got it back! (Bought the boy a voucher for that!!)

Oh and the last time (three times?!) I left it in McDonald's, my mum got a call saying your ali next of kin? She started worrying then they said we have her purse; thank fully I left my passport in it!!!

Note to self be more careful!!!

A couple of years back I left my purse in a taxi in Edinburgh. Didn't realise until I got to bar to meet friends it was gone. All night they looked after me. Kept me in drinks and made sure I got home. A few months later I was surprised and moved to tears when it turned up at college with a note from the taxi driver who had gone out of his way to track me down to return it. Not a penny missing. There are great people in this world.

Question is what are you going to do, it needs at least a note, maybe a nice bottle of wine...

Recently found a brand new phone with £20 while out walking my pooch. The 'ooh I could sell this for a packet and pocket the cash' thought went through my head but handed it in.

Have lost and had stuff nicked before, not a nice feeling.

I dropped my wallet in a taxi the other day and the guy popped it through the letter box on his way home.

When I dropped my mobile phone in a taxi on my 18th the taxi driver wanted £20 to drop it off at my house to cover his fuel costs.

I stupidly agreed because I couldn't be bothered going down to the office to pick it up. The guy turned up 5 minutes later.

I still to this day wonder what kind of a car uses £20 worth of petrol for a 5 minute journey

"Guilt would eat me up if I didn't do the right thing.

I've dropped my phone and left my purse before, both times had them returned to me. The massive feeling of relief afterwards! I was so grateful x Me too. I asked the lady at the gym if she knew who handed it in and if they was still there but she did not know. I would of liked to have thanked them personally x"

It was me!

This happened to me on the bus the other week. I left my purse on the seat. Over 100 quid, bank cards and few sentimental items were in it and someone handed it to the driver. Sadly no contact details so I could thank them...

Faith restored in humanity. It's nice to know that there are people out there like myself!

A good few years back, we found a wallet in the changing rooms at Blackpool's Sandcastle water park, cards and a small fortune in money. We didn't hand it in to reception but did leave the number of our hotel, and returned it to one very relieved family later that day. It was just the start of their holiday and was everything they had

I found a dropped credit card by an atm a couple of years ago. All I had to go by was the name, and no telephone book, so dropped it in at the police station.

Had a call later in the day to say that it had been recovered and there was a bottle of whiskey waiting for me

Central

This year I've lost my purse, mobile phone and meditation I'd just picked up at tescos pharmacy. All 3 returned.

I would totally do the same. Most people are decent imo.
