Currently being subjected to it and whilst I understand the pathos involved I can't help but think that this is the act of the serpent eating its tail. Were actually watching people watching TV... This is how the world ends |

I love it.
I'm really into characters, even when I am reading a book I prefer character driven books to plot driven ones. So Gogglebox is far more interesting to me then watching the programs that the individuals actually watch.
Plus it is an interesting study into modern British culture.
Don't you think?

From the perspective of an American, I think it IS a social commentary. I think you just miss it because you're British so you don't see what is so interesting about it.
What they eat, the type of biscuits they have, when they talk about political issues, what it is in a program that they find crazy/funny/interesting/outrageous. All of this is a social commentary. It is different than what I am used to as an American.
So I find it crazy interesting. Try watching it from that perspective. It will be far more interesting to you. |

"I love Gogglebox, it shouldn't work but it's brilliant. "
That's how I feel
Never watched it because I just though watching people watching telly sounded as daft as it comes but I was subjected to it one week as my kids had it on and I have to admit I found it funny, I just love the two black women they are my fave it cracks me up when the larger one sits drinking her pot noodle |

Got accused of being from gogglebox....or rather someone suggested we should be on it....while watching 50shades in cinema in worcester...... We were just commenting and laughing all the way through the film....should be reclassified as one of the funniest comedies ever! |

I watched it for the first time last week...Steph and Dom are hilarious they were on Four in a Bed and won it...and they do hire there home oot for swinging parties... I was in floods of tears last week as Steph came down Sunday morning said to Dom..."Look at all these bruises where the hell did they come from ?"
His reply" I've no idea Darling I was far too busy with that cheeky blonde" his face was a picture....classic |
