I sometimes make a kind of flapjack looking toad in the hole. It's so disappointing My kids dread me doing that for tea now!!

Not a baking disaster but I did fuck up massively with some really really hot chillis (bhut jolokia) a couple of years ago.

Chopped them up, not wearing gloves. Midway thru cooking I had to go to the bathroom to answer the call of nature and forgot to wash hands first. Downstairs was on fire for what seemed like ages.

I have no stand-out baking disasters because pretty much every attempt at baking I've ever made has ended up that way.

Tried cakes back in the day. Always came out like biscuits. Nice biscuits, though.

I've had my fair share over the years as I run a cake business part time. I've mastered most of my usuals now but macarons and eclairs used to be my Achilles heel, think I'll give them another go as not tried them in years.

What is it your making? X

The other week was fairy cakes made with coconut flour and I didn't realise you needed less of this flour than normal flour, they were a disaster and even tasted yuk!

Today was lemon butter biscuits, but I lynink I put too much lemon juice in as the mixture was quite wet and sticky, you had to put it in the fridge to go like dough for 2 hours or so and then roll it out and cut biscuits, it was still sticky in places so back in the fridge it goes till later!! If it's any good

You may need to add more flour as even if you get it stiff enough to cut they may spread too much in the oven - good luck xx

This happened at school, not to me but we did all find it funny.

In Cookery we were making pineapple upside down cake, as you do. The girl it happened to got hers out of the oven just as it was ready.

She misjudged the clearance needed to remove it safely and caught the edge of the cake tin on the roof of the oven. The cake tin spun out of her hand and the cake itself landed perfectly on the over door.

The teacher had to come over and mark the cake before it was scooped off and thrown away.

I tend to love cooking victoria cake sponge

but i have an unusual habit of throwing other things into the mix as well

ive tried it with red and sometimes black cherries, raspberries, tangerines, strawberries all chopped up fine and mixed into the mix they do taste nice in the sponge cake but I also make buns as well

im the swine that will sit there with the cake mix and a spoon and scrape the bowl

I won't know about these biscuits until morning.

The cakes I made other week were completely inedible. Apologies if you were not asking that question. I wasn't sure.

While in all the years I did Home Ec I didn't see something like that a friend misread the amount of baking powder required for cupcakes. She put in a tablespoon instead of a teaspoon. More volcanic eruption than a gentle rise

yeah and its the only problem when you have kids as you have 2 do 2-3 bowls otherwise you dont get chance of the best bit

my own fault for letting them try it as I did as a child as always got asked to bake some more cakes just for the bowl that they wanted each
