What topics get you engaged enough to start protesting or taking some kind of action?
I have just seen this on BBC News; Anti-Renoir protesters picket Boston art gallery - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-34465910
People are protesting that Renoir "sucked" at painting. I don't know about you, but that is pretty far down my list of things that are wrong in this world! |

I protested against the Iraq war, for women's rights, against the Republican Convention in NY, and for Union rights.
I don't care enough about art to protest anything having to do with it

"I protested against the Iraq war
-Courtney"
I remember shimmying up a lamp post at Piccadilly Circus on that day in 2003. The largest crowd I ever saw in my life all saying NOT IN MY NAME.
And it made not the blindest bit of difference.
Part of my optimism about politics died then.
Along with a bunch of Iraqis, but hey. |

Yeah, I felt the same at the Washington Monument in DC, but if I had to do it again I still would. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to sleep at night. |

First rule of protesting?
Never expect to change the people your protesting, however you might change the people who are watching from the sidelines |

"So what is to be done?"
Have a nice sit down with this Renoir chap, maybe we can find out where he is going wrong, maybe give him some tips? Maybe he could go to art classes? |
