I worked 9-5 all my working life until 2008 when I went into the care sector. Now I'm back doing it and I feel like it's taking over my life. As soon as I walk out the door at night I feel like falling asleep! Might have something to do with age but while I was working in care my shifts were 15.5 hours long... |

I work 8-4 Mon-Fri and enjoy it very much. I used to work in a restaurant, then worked in customer service, so didn't have a weekend off for 15 years. I love having my weekends off. |

I don't know if there is any perfect shift pattern, mine are 6.45 - 3/4 and I'm constantly knackered.
I think it's more important to make the most of your time off and treat Sunday as part of the weekend and not just the day before Monday! |

I like that tip about using Sunday as the weekend still, I had an invite to go out this Sunday but didn't as I was washing shit and prepping for Monday... gonna sort everything out Friday after work and keep Sunday free! |

Work in the building trade and love it mostly,I'm a big kid that loves climbing n hights so it's an ideal job for me,keeps me pretty fit too
Working hours are supposed to be 8-4:30 but I'm regularly back home for 2-3 n still get paid for my 8 hours!
Never at the same job for too long which is great as I wouldn't fancy being stuck in the same place for any considerable length of time..... |

I work 0730 to 1630 Mon to Fri.
I also get to bring the 'on call' phone home with me every night and 2 weekends out of three.
No day is the same though so it certainly keeps you on your toes.
I leave mentally drained every day. |

I used to be on hours between 9am and 10pm and I found I couldn't wind down quick enough after a late shift and still get enough sleep for an early the day after!
I think my ideal day would be 11-7 as I'm a night owl so stay up late and struggle to get in for 8:30am.. Well ideal would be 11-3 with an hour long dinner but need the money |

Me too, plus I'm at my mental peak between 3 and 6.
...relatively!"
I usually stay late at work as I'm more productive after my afternoon lull.
Friday nights are my most productive time |

I resisted 9-5 after years of shifts and it is exhausting at first but it settles.
Nights is proven to be bad for your health and to shorten your life.
It might be the office environment that's the issue not the hours tho, I'm out and about all day which is great.
Always have a really flat spot around 3pm tho sure my body clock is knackered |

I couldn't do 9-5 in an office. I used to work in pubs and clubs so always worked afternoon to silly-o-clock but recently changed my job and work 9-5 most days with the occasional 12 shift thrown in to mix it up and keep it fun. I live it, I virtually skip home. I get time with the kids at night, take them to school and love my job. An office would kill me |

I generally work roughly 9:30-6:30 but change it about according to whether I need to be in early or stay late. Working evenings and weekends in pubs, shops and call centres when I was studying made me want a 9 to 5 so I didn't have to keep missing out on nights out and weekends away!
Any full time working pattern is tiring while you get used to it. |

Eurrgghhh offices are vile. Full of cliques and office politics. Either too hot or too cold. Full of germs and full of asslickers.
I'm blessed that at 33 I'm semi retired, at 40 I will be fully retired then I'm off to live in the sun. See ya later. |
