"The remnants would not reach us until the weekend. I thought in any event it had turned south and was unlikely to hit us." Well lets hope that is the case, at one stage Before it left the states it was a Category 4 hurricane it soon went down to one on its route over the atlantic, Thank god we don,t get what they get There.

It's good when people thank god for avoiding hurricanes. That'll be to the same God who's killing people with said hurricanes in another part of the world |

Firstly it won't even be a hurricane when it gets here anyway.
Secondly if we did have hurricanes as big, be far less damage for a start since Americans mostly build out of wood.
Been in two hurricanes, first one just annoyed me as i was trying to sleep and the 2nd didnt really damage much, meant their were no queues at the theme park the next day.
See a couple Tornadoes when we left New Orleans earlier this year, amazing stormy weather over there, makes thunderstorms over here look like nothing |

From the Evening Standard...
Mr Brown said: "Ex-hurricane Joaquin poses us no threat as we have been saying since Monday.
"It will split apart to our west on Friday as it comes up against the building ridge of high pressure over us with the main energy diverted south to Iberia and later the Mediterranean.
"For the UK we can expect mainly dry weather and a steady drop in temperatures as the easterly flow moves from Russia to eastern Europe and then across Germany to the UK early next week.
"Temperatures next week 2 or 3C below normal by day and some chilly nights too with a few showers moving off the North Sea to eastern England."
This weekend, temperatures across London are expected to reach a high of 15C on Saturday and 14C on Sunday. |
