"Thanks for the lovely posts. The walk was just what I needed. I always seem to collect things on walks and I now have pockets full of conkers, rosehips and elder leaves (I love the smell). I thought you were supposed to grow out of this by age 6 ![]() Conkers are meant to be good for keeping spiders away if you put them in the corner of your room

"Tomorrow will be better. ![]() If only it was that easy, I know people mean well, but depression isn't that straight forward.

"Tomorrow will be better. ![]() ![]() do what ever you can to change it, small things. Go buy flowers, look at nature and how that changes: Autumn is a great month and seeing your local area in all seasons is a joy. Watch kids play and see their innocence. Do exercise, go for a swim or sauna....... if it will be the same if you allow it ![]() ![]()

I thought you were supposed to grow out of this by age 6 ![]() ![]() I find nature has a way of curing my black dog times when I immerse myself in its tranquil curves. If I'm really down I can't think straight until I run away to hide in a nice quiet woodland for a few days... ... did it once in Africa many years ago and woke up sharing my mossie net with a tarantula!

"There is a serious lack of understanding about mental health, people used to say to me things like, " pull your socks up" or " everyone gets down from time to time ", there isn't a quick fix or way out for a lot of people, I don't mean to put people down who are trying to help, and it's nice that people want to be there for others, but it is a very serious condition, and for a lot of people , there is no light at the end of the tunnel, and for some, there isn't even a tunnel." Sorry mate but there is light and it can be seen even if it's from a very long distance, I guess it depends on how far into the tunnel you are.yes some may never get out, but many do. I think we( society in general) needs to start tackling mental health in a more positive way rather than wrapping every sufferer in cotton wool. Yes times call for it, other times people just need a friend or something no matter how small to try and give them a lift. Personally speaking I have found regular exercise to be better than any medication. We can help ourselves and while not be 100% cured we can deal with it and cope. Without hiding behind the mental health banner everytime someone or something upsets you. Not everyone is ready for this, some have just entered the tunnel and are a long way from the end or even the middle. I tell myself daily to harden the fuck up, deal with issues and stop running from them. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I am lucky to be here today and assure other's you can get better, you can overcome it. You may always have it but you can learn to control it. Good luck and peace be with you all xx

Wrapping in cotton wool, harden the fuck up and hiding behind mental health banners are ignorant phrases to use, and shows a blatant misunderstanding of peoples feelings, how can you possibly know how another person thinks and feels based on your own experiences?

You are doing exactly the same thing and deciding that what you or people you know need or feels is what everyone needs and how everyone feels.

And arnt you also assuming the same thing? By your own word's you assume that you know what is best for everyone. I never said that what has worked for me will work for other's. I merely pointed out that, people can find a way forward they just need to find what works for them. A negative outlook and attitude will help Noone. As for ignorance, u assume that I have no idea what people are and have gone through. I can tell you 100% I know. I tell myself to harden the fuck up. I never told anyone else to. Re read what I said, about positive attitude. My point is that it can be beaten, not by everyone. But most need to hit rock bottom before they can start climbing up again. Finding the way back up is the key, many can't do this alone in fact everyone needs help, it is also very important as to how much the individual is willing to help themselves when they are able.
