My granny sent me some cash in the post so I've just put it away for a rainy day.
And I just realised that I never pay cash for anything anymore and I never usually have any cash on me.
I feel much better just paying by card, whereas my parents like to pay cash when they can for normal purchases.
Is it a generational thing? Do other people have a preference too? |

Thinking about it, I pay with card mostly, it's quicker and convenient, especially with contactless now. |

I usually have around a tenner to twenty quid on me in cash at any one time, tend to pay cash for small purchases like a cup of tea or snack etc (there just something in my head that prevents me using a card to pay £1 for something!).
Anything over about a fiver I tend to pay by card. |

I barely use cash at all nowadays.
I keep the odd change in my purse for carparks, etc but other than that I use my card for everything.
I guess having been robbed a couple of times, it makes more sense to me not to carry cash as you don't get it back whereas if anything goes missing from your account you're usually reimbursed.

I have a family friend who 10 years or so ago bought a brand new car from a dealership with a bag of cash. If he hadn't been in his 70s, wearing a suit, I'm sure they would have called the rozzers. I feel like an extra in a Shane Ritchie film, if I ever pay for anything over £100 in cash |

I don't like not having any cash on me at all, so always have £20 or so. I feel bad paying for stuff on a card when it's less than a couple of quid, but as more places get the contactless card readers I'll probably do it more because it's just as quick as cash. |

Mostly card, not a fan of carrying cash around.
Wouldn't make a difference if I had £10 or £100 in cash on me, I'd whittle away at it and not be able to recall what I'd even spent it on. |

You're right, if I have cash it tends to go on bits and bobs I don't really need. I can go days without buying anything if I have no cash on me. |

"Is everyone happy, knowing that all their purchases can be viewed by "the man"?"
Unless there starts to be an excessive makeup buying or number of transactions in Waitrose alert flag, I should be ok. |

With contactless payments up to 30 quid it's no more time consuming putting the card on the reader thingy than it is watching some "barista" try to work out how much change he has to give you now that you've given him ten pounds AND the five pence so he can just give you a fiver back! |

Do they have Waitrose up North? I thought it was just for us posh Southerners |

A few branches in select areas Ocado said they wouldn't deliver to my postcode though, how rude! |

don't know how they think its quicker"

But I've never seen one yet |

When you see a contactless card, you'll see how quick they are. |
