your not playing god, your being his best friend by ending his suffering as hard as that decision is with those of us who have pets its sadly inevitable at some point..

wish you well fella..

I've lost loads over the years. Last one was my 19 year old cat. It never gets easier but neither does watching them suffer xxx

I hate those moments we have to make hard decisions for others we care for. I have alway felt though that the vets advice is the most compassionate thing.

That's sad, I don't envy you right now. As much as it will be the hardest thing you could ever do, it is also the kindest if he is suffering

"I hate those moments we have to make hard decisions for others we care for. I have alway felt though that the vets advice is the most compassionate thing."

this..

one of our dogs has epilepsy and we have had the discussion about what we will do if its required..

during one bad spell when he was breaking through his meds our vet was relieved when we raised the issue that we had spoken about it..

he said he had seen many pet owners who over prolong the animals life as they dont want to face that decision even after being advised its the kindest thing to do..

its not an easy one but as said its done with love for the pet to stop their suffering..

One of the toughest, if not THE toughest things to do. I found a quality life form online and my furry man scored around eight and 30 was the benchmark. That's what decided it for me, after 17 years.

Don't have him suffer to avoid yours, it's shite but be there for him right till the end. I was and although I'm petless now and probably will remain so, for a long long time, I'd choose being put to sleep, over seeing him suffer.

Again sorry to hear of your loss and remember the good times....

Regarding the epilepsy though is back biting a symptom?

One of ours has it to and I've noticed he nibbles occasionally

I'm really sorry for your loss, I know exactly how you feel as I lost my Yorke Milly 10 weeks ago. Your beloved pet will be pain free now, if you ever need to talk feel free to message. ((Hugs)).

no matter

"Don't want him to suffer, don't like the idea of playing god either. "

I do believe some people leave it too long . We often hear that the owner would prefer the animal would just pass away over night but in reality it is far more kind to have them put to sleep sooner so they don't suffer . It is always sad but with the owner cuddling the pet whilst they go to sleep is the best thing .

Sorry it is bad news
