New relationship...

So I'm a happy bunny... I've finally made things official with my fwb and we're together. Don't get me wrong as I am very very very happy... however.

We've spent the four out of the past six nights together, and as I'm so independent - and he's doing the chasing - I'm starting to feel like I need space, but when we do have space I miss him

Bear in mind I have been single for four years so maybe I'm so used to being by myself so much! Have any other long term singletons felt like this when in a new relationship? Or have I gone completely mad? (Probably...)

Seems perfectly reasonable.

Give him 3 days a week to spend together - he can choose and preserve the fiction that he has some choice.

Best of both?

Its been like that for 6 years for me. We're together but there's no real commitment. We like our own space.

It's understandable you would want a bit of space if you've been single for so long, if you wasn't missing him when he wasn't around then I'd be worried but you are so that's good xx

Oh, I really really really miss him! Being in my own bed on my own doesn't feel right now

Sounds pretty normal to me - and a bit of space is important too so you can appreciate each other all the more when you're together

I think so... maybe. Or when we're not together I'll potter around and do more of my own stuff.

That's a really nice feeling to miss someone but not at the same time, it kinda hurts too!!

I'm actually really happy for you and I hope you get the balance right xxx

Just however you do, make sure you sit down at the beginning and say the are the ground rules - they may change over time but if you're honest from the off it save a whole lotta trouble.

I think its only natural to feel like you want your own space after being on your own for a while. Having someone around 24/7 is a big change, and can be difficult no matter how much you love being with them. So maybe just have a few days a week together until you adjust. After all, absence makes the heart grow fonder

Best way to be. Then you can have your own space when he's around. I need to be able to breathe and I'm properly cross when I don't get quality time by myself. Glad you found some love!

Also, it doesn't matter how long you've been together or how in love you are, you will probably still need your space.

The fact that I like being on my own doesn't mean that I don't love my OH. Far from it.
