Hiya everyone!
Just got back from a weekend of traveling and sightseeing that included a few stately homes and castles. It got me thinking...if you could pick any castle or house/mansion to live in, what would you choose?
And, perhaps more interestingly, what do you think it says about you as a person?
Just some fun on a slow, relaxing Sunday

I've always fancied living in one of those big mansions that the stars live in, in Malibu. No one inparticular. I just love the idea of waking up every morning in the beautiful Californian sunshine and a view out over the Pacific ocean  It beats Rotherham I guess! |

Hmmm I've stayed in a variety of weird and wonderful places ...one of my most memorable places was a tree house in the Caribbean which I think I rather preferred over some of the much more fancier residences I've had the fortune to temporarily occupy |

The dad's house in the original version of The Parent Trap. Spanish hacienda style villa in a hot enough climate that it has a courtyard in the centre of the house. |

I wouldn't want a mansion.
I would be happy with a penthouse apartment overlooking The Tiergarten in Berlin.
A nice roof terrace with space to entertain would be enough. |

Good question. If I could I'd buy tower house in London, maybe barn castle in Romania and finally lake Louise ski lodge |

I wouldn't want a mansion either... it's bad enough cleaning my little flat! I've just cleared out my wardrobes and I'm looking round my bedroom thinking I should probably clean my mirrors. Followed by the thought that which muppet thought having 17 mirrors in one room was a smart idea?!

I'd have a nice secluded country house in the cotswolds, 5 bedrooms, large gardens and magnificent views of rolling hills. I like to wake up to the views that make Britain great, I almost have the views now but the pesky neighbours get in the way. Oh it must also have a large enough entrance hall to fit a Christmas tree |

I currently live in my dream home. It's a cottage by a farm. I love it and feel so lucky to live here. I'm sad I don't own it. However if I won the lottery I would beg them to sell me it.
I've not felt settled in so long so it's just amazing.
The only thing I'd change is to have it by the sea. Even that's only 30 min away though |

I've always wanted to live in a fancy estate lodge on an estate.
Don't really know why, apart from I find them interesting architecturally

It is the best feeling in the world. I hate leaving it to go to work. The fact it has great views, period features and a roll top bath are huge bonuses too. And my neighbours are lovely as well.. even the noisy donkeys. |

My cousins flat in Edinburgh would suit me just fine. Or my great aunt's bungalow further along in Joppa 1 street back from the sea. I'd really love a bolt hole up there as it's our 2nd home & wouldn't really care what it was like |

Somewhere warm, with greenery around me and water close by. Not big, not small..with lots of light and big skies...and few people near... with lots and lots of my favourite animals and a well stocked cellar x |

I definitely wouldn't choose a mansion or castle, I like the simple things in life so I'd probably choose a log cabin somewhere warm and green.

When I was a kid, my family had a summer house up in the Adirondacks in upsate New York. It was a few acres, with a pool, on a river, with a willow tree and I miss it. I would choose that.
Failing that, I guess Lanhydrock would do
