Smell...underrated?

Is smell the most underrated of the senses when it comes to attraction?

All men know it's quite intoxicating to be around a woman who's wearing nice perfume and I'm sure the same goes for a man wearing nice aftershave. But there's also a person's natural body odor. It's even said we're unconciously attracted to people by certain pheromones that are given off and that facial attraction is connected to the attractiveness of these scents as well.

So how big a role does the smell of a partner play for you? Do you even like to be around your partner when they're not smelling their best? Or have you had any bad experiences with people who you didn't like the smell of?

I hate it when men wear too much aftershave.

Makes me feel sick.

One of my exes wore Joop, so if I smell it on anyone now its puts me right off them. Not their fault I know, but smell is the most evocative sense.

Smell is really important to me. I often prefer people not to have artificial scents, as it covers up our natural ones. I do like to smell people in public, when they're nearby, to check on compatibility too and see if they're as horny via scent as their looks hint.

I love the smell of all aftershaves but have to admit cool waters is the most desireable to me.

Thanks for saving the thread Miss I. It nearly died on its arse there!

Same thing with women. It would appear some like to bathe in the stuff. It can get too much of it's one you're not too keen on it.

Smell is without doubt the most evocative sense. One little whiff can send you right back in time. Sometimes to a place you didn't want to go back to.

I do like men to smell nice but not overpowering. The smell of a freshly bathed/showered man with no aftershave is my favourite - especially if the bath or shower was shared

I think a natural smell you like is always preferable to man made scents.

Some people tend to overdo it when they really don't need to. But then you get people that could probably do with spraying on a bit of deoderant not bothering!

I like them to smell fresh with a splash of aftershave. I wouldn't like to be around someone who doesn't smell that great.

...Up on the Downs

I am a sensualist, I love to be surrounded by heady scents that set the stage - candles, incense, a man's aftershave, his own body scent....it all adds to enhance the experience in my book.

You never know until you meet someone though if you're going to be compatible smell wise. What would you do if they turned out to be a bit ripe?!

Good smelling please but not too strong.

Met a guy for a social recently and it was just the odd drift of his scent as he went to the bar- not overpowering. It was intoxicating.

And seperately the smell of our sex mingled with fresh sweat is pretty heady too!
