There are a couple of bugs that have been in Android phones for a few weeks, which mean that your phone can be infected and hijacked. They're termed stagefright, 1 and 2. No. 1 operated via a text message to your phone, and No. 2 can enter via and audio or video file that's infected.

Manufacturers may release security updates for the operating system. Just some advance notice, should you find anything strange going. I don't run android, so not able to give much help. Once your phone has been attacked, they could then be vulnerable to further stuff being installed on them.

If anyone would like to know more, then searching for Stagefright bug name should lead you to greater information. Google has issued fixes to handset manufacturers but many don't update their phones, I believe, for some time, if at all.

You can 'root' your device and install an alternative android version on it. If you do this, then it's worth ensuring that the mod installed is updated for these bugs.

I use a VPN on my phone, as well as Orbot - do you think that will suffice to keep it secure, or is it a different issue?
