Does anyone every have trouble when scanning their new passport at the airport

I had an embarrassing moment recently where no one would help me and left me there to fathom out why nothing was happening when I was stood there like a lemon holding my passport down for scanning......there must be an easier way surely

Or is it just me that's doing something wrong

Sorry to hear that, I've had no problems in the 4 or 5 times I used the chipped passport gates but you're right there does appear to be a lack of resources supervising them in case of issues / problems. For me they've been a great innovation and saved a lot of queueing at passport control

Mine doesn't work either, i tried scanning it on 4 or 5 gates and no luck, had to go around for someone to check it manually

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

I've only used mine at an automated gate a couple o times, but it's always worked, although I've needed to wiggle the passport a little to get it "noticed".

I've never seen staff refuse to help though . Mostly it's been like the self-serve at the supermarket - if two people need help, one has to wait.
