I'm fed up
Buy clothes in a lovely small size regularly
Happy with my weight loss over the last year
Get some thing from another shop and it's tiny on me !!!!!
Same size as I usually wear and would probably have to buy two sizes bigger to fit me
......
Also ....
Say in some shops like tkmaxx , pick up a 10 or 12 and they are a medium size ....... So a 12 or 14 would be large and 14 or 16 xl etc etc how is this also possible !!!! How is a size 14 xl !!!!
Such differences gets on my nerves no wonder people worry so much about size !!
Not sure what men's sizes are like in different stores
Am I alone with this ? |

Clothing sizes are all about marketing. Brands change bigger sizes to smaller numbers to make us all feel good about ourselves. You can see this in sizing differences between the US, UK, an European brands.
It's annoying, but it's all part of the game.

I dunno. Different style? Maybe some product is UK, and some from their US stuff? My point is that inconsistency is part of the system. I don't really go by sizes much anymore. |

Things come from different suppliers, so they vary. H&M sizes are mental eh? I tried on a matching top & shorts, needed a 10 in the top and a 16 in the shorts! My arse isn't THAT big! |

"I will never understand why women buy clothes in randomly defined sizes rather than measurements "
The sizes should be based on a set of measurements tho.
I usually hold items up and select size that way, but having lost weight I find my brains not caught up and I'm taking things to try on that would've fitted 4st ago. |

i dont worry what it says on the label it gets cut out anyway - so long as im happy with how i look - does make ordering online a pia though as you cant be sure if it fits just from a size |

Yep it's annoying.
You get to know which shops you can just buy your "normal" size. 14 for me.
Other shops, like Primark or H&M, you have to take about 4 sizes in to try.
I have clothes in sizes 8 to XL that all fit

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else |
"Some times depressing "
It shouldn't be "depressing " -the fact that women's sizes are reduced to a small series of numbers means there's a huge amount of approximation in the first place. If you accept this, use their sizing as a rough guide that gives you a starting point, and buy whatever fits.
I have shoes in sizes 8, 8.5, and 9. Doesn't bother me! |

H&M are particularly bad for this - they hate boobs and bums.
Even measurements don't always work. I bought some jeans online last week that were the exact same style as some I already have that fit fine, ordered the correct waist and leg measurements - thought they looked a wee bit small when I got them out of the bag, and I could barely get the bastards over my knees. |

I don't shop in River Island for this very reason, their stuff comes up so small on me(David). I also made mistake on a short trip to the US of just buying Large shirts/t-shirts and they were like bloody kaftans, US and UK are NOT equivalent sizes! |

It amuses me how a scrappy little label can reduce previously sane adults to wrecks.
Hold a few items up and use your judgement to assess which will fit. Try it on. If it fits wear it. Simple.
Cut the label out when you get home if it bothers you. |

I (David) like "skinny jeans" and having bought these from Next, Gap, Debenhams and liking but not loving the fit, I tried Primark's £10 ones and they're perfect, you just have to chuck them away quicker cos they wear quicker, but as they look great who cares if they're primark |

Having a diff label in clothes doesn't bother me. I found it hilarious when I bought a pair of jeans in a ten and they were huge so exchanged them for an 8 and then eventually a 6! Next shop I went in I tried on a pair in a 10 and couldn't get them over my knees. So got a 12. Most of my clothes are a 10 bottoms and 8 tops,
It just annoys me as the only clothes shop in the town I live is new look so I end up ordering online a lot and order most things in 3 or 4 sizes as it's anyone's guess which one will fit, I spend so much time In the post office returning stuff!! |

Yeah it's alright if you're choosing between an 8 and a 14, but when you're a standard 16 or 18 it generally means that shop will just have nothing to fit you. Like thanks, I'm too fat to even be allowed to wear your clothes. |

It's not just ladies and it's not just high street shops selling things from different manufacturers: I bought the same type/size of levis in blue and black and the black ones are too tight on my thighs. |

I have found the bigger the size the more the variation
Two of my daughters are a size 8 and no matter where they shop they just pick up a size 8 and it fits
Me and my middle daughter both carry extra weight and no matter where we shop its always a case of taking a couple of sizes into the changing room to see which fits, when you start getting to sizes 16+ there seems to be a lot of variety shop to shop in the same size |

In the last few weeks I've bought or tried on quite a few items and size 12 fits perfectly in them all, or size medium and I do have come jumper size small.
However I've got a size 16 dress in my wardrobe that still does go over my head.
It's been an ego boost to fit in size 12s(this has never happened in my lifetime).
But I'd sooner where something that fits me properly whatever the size |

I used to be the same. Then I got a skirt that was clearly a size 16 but it had a size 10 label on it. I lost all faith in clothes sizes and realised I was beating myself up for no reason.

I'm a size 12 which is great if I'm shopping in a better quality shop but if I go into cheap places like primark and supermarkets, long sleeve tops are too short and leggings not long enough and ill fitting round the waist so you're not alone |

If all clothes were your size there are still differences. A tight dress or a loose jumper. Style determines if it's loose or tight.
River Island are now marketing for muscly guys who can wear tight shirts. I find the same thing with shoes.
I'm size 11 in Nike, 12 in addicts. Or 11 in vans.
