What type of member would you like to meet via here? Someone who honest upfront polite and straight to the point when seeking friends or some whose rude that thinks they are better than anyone else on here when seeking friendship or sex. 'Hi, how are you doing?' probably doesn't work any more because the ladies / couples (so I'm led to believe) get inundated with 'Hi, how are you doing?' messages every day!
Therefore you need to stand out from the crowd somehow. So it's less about the type of person you are and more about what you can do to attract their attention initially I think!

Op maybe has a different tolerance threshold to me but I don't want to meet unpleasant people, including rude ones, and certainly wouldn't have them as my friends.

I've much more enjoy my friends on here and haven't fucked them off, unlike most of my meets who aren't friends. I get bored of guys who can't talk about anything other than sex and get rid.
Not too bothered about arrogance, sometimes it's funny and the people aren't as up their own bum as you think. |

To me, you should message the same way you would approach someone in a club. ...politely  if you want messages straight to the point, put it in your profile, that's if you are not a lazy ass and put something in your profile |

Definitely honesty it goes a long way & costs nothing.
