Ok guys, this is unrelated to FAB...

But just adopted a 7week old beagel/springer...

The wee guy seems to be drinking alot of water and peeing alot...

Im wondering if this is normal, im not sure what the wee guy has been feeding, or if he,s thirsty or hungry....

Have googled about weaning but cant find anything about the amount of water

he should be drinking ...

Any advise is welcome

When our dogs were puppies, they drank a hell of a lot. Seemed normal and they survived.

But if you think its abnormal, bring your puppy to the vet for a quick check-up. No harm in being cautious.

A puppy should never really leave its mother till a minimum of 8 weeks old... I would advise ringing your vet and asking if it is normal

Oh! And not to be weird, but is your pup's "number 2" normal? If it is liquidy your pup might be dehydrated?

Nothing to worry about. Just make sure the water bowl is always full and there are clean puppy pads for it to come out the other end

Like someone else said, pups should be preferably 8 weeks to leave mum. You should get a vet check anyway with a new dog as soon as possible. They can age him and will advise on his fluid intake. It may depend what you're feeding him. You may have swapped him from wet to dry food which would change his need for water. It could also be anxiety.

Ring a vet and book in for a routine check up.

Good look with a beagle springer mix. He's going to be a busy dog

This!

My rabbit (not a euphemism) did the same and he had a problem with his kidneys. If in doubt, go check.

I would say seeing as somebody has let children take a 7 week old puppy he's definitely not come from a home that cares about him, who gives any animal to kids

My dogs drink loads but that's normal for them, he could just be a thirsty dog, at least he sound like he's with somebody who cares about him now, all you can do is get a vets advice and you already have that covered

Sounds like a farmed pup- I would ring your vet for advice at the very least and if it was me- get him checked out. Flea treatments for pups are risky so I hope you got good advice- good luck xx

Your dog is drinking a lot because he's wanting liquid diet and water is the only thing available. You need to get him some puppy milk and make some up for a week or two and slowly introduce food such as bakers biscuits and the odd small bowl of porridge made with puppy milk. You buy the milk from the vets and you make it like baby formula. Hope this helps

I'd Google that brand of dog food before you feed it. Nasty stuff. And I certainly wouldn't give that breed that brand. Like giving an already hyper kid five cans of red bull.

Agree about not feeding bakers. We ran out of our normal food and my dog can only eat chappie biscuits so brought a box of bakers from the local shop to tide us over. Omg!!! Imagine a staffy x rottie as high as a kite. She literally flipped. Won't be doing that again

The minute anyone with a pet is not sure if something is right, is the time to consult the vet.

My dog had a bad time with stomach issues as a puppy, she used to drink & pee a lot too. Got her at 8 weeks from memory from a great breeder. Definitely get the puppy insured, used Pet plan (not the cheapest out there but they have been brilliant) she's had several things done that would have cost £2k+ but all covered on insurance.

On food I tried a few different brands but Burns Puppy Chicken & Rice worked best and she's now on Burns Adult food.

Hope you get the wee one all sorted - best thing I ever did was getting a dog!
