Lindt's "Les Pyrenees". Named, as you've guessed, after the mountain range. These chocolates taste 'cold' when they're melting in your mouth. I've no idea how they manage this, but the sensation is fantastic and the chocolate - being made by Lindt - is out of this world.
I've only ever seen them for sale in France unfortunately. |

'Les Pyreneens' are made in the Oloron-Sainte-Marie factory, they are indeed only for sale in France and are only made for the Christmas market.
Have tried to import them from Lindt but they don't supply them to Lindt UK.
You can get them in Milk, Dark and White Chocolate.
One thing though....Les Pyreneens are not made from the Swiss chocolate recipe, instead they are made from a typical French Fancy Chocolate mix which Lindt produce for the French market.

Ahhh, you didn't fall for my intentional spelling mistake
I've not tried the white chocolate ones. I've had the dark chocolate but it doesn't work as well as the milk chocolate variety. One thing I have noticed about Les Pyreneens is that once you take them out of the foil, they are moist ...almost oily. They're still fantastic chocolates though.
Do I take it that you're a chocolatier, Jane? |

French Fancy chocolate is always wrapped in foil because it sweats when exposed to the air, the reason that it isn't marketed in Switzerland or Germany is that it doesn't contain enough Cocoa solids for their taste.
I quite like it though.
For the best chocolates try a Belgian company called Ickx.....Van Coillie is also gorgeous. |
