I prefer to make my own coffee. It tastes better and is far cheaper.
The last time I did go to a coffee shop, it was in the US and it was Dunkin Donuts, my favorite.

Love coffee shops, meet a couple of times a week in one socially. We have a few here for the size of the town, we have both Costa and cafe Nero, I like both, probably prefer Costa coffee bit the cafe Nero I prefer how its laid out with window seats but I get a bit of a head rush from the coffee.
If I'm going out for the day I love going and sitting the world go by.
You see all sorts in their, people just curled up reading a book, lots of socialising, |

My favourite is an independent coffee place at Reading station called Tutti Frutti which has miles better coffee than the chain places for a fraction of the cost.
And it makes homemade ice-cream too.
I have most of my social meets there, I like to help the independent traders. |

I had it in Essex once when I saw shop there, but it was crazy expensive and didn't taste the same. Now I have to save it for when I go on vacation

Costa is ruining the UK with their coffee everywhere from cinemas, supermarkets, schools, offices, motorway services and even theme parks.
Their coffee is grotesque and a proper test is an espresso or americano. Any coffee shop can add sweeteners and make fancy lattes but that's simply a heavy caloried hot drink.
Independent coffee shops when done properly are great. They source their coffee with pride and know their way around an espresso machine and what's not to love about the cheesy Spotify playlists.

Our local hospital waiting room has been taken over by Costa. Really annoying having to wait there for a fasting blood test.
I either drink coffee at a lovely little independent here in southend or Pret a Manger. Their coffee is strong and organic!! |

I agree that an espresso or americano is the only way to tell if coffee is good but Costa ruining the UK.....I thought popular opinion was that it was migrants and benefit claimants |

I boycott Starbucks completely, it comes from the newspaper article from a few years ago that after the 9/11 tragedy, Starbucks billed the fire department for bottled water that was given to the survivors of the world trade centre attacks, that sort of profiteering pisses me off and those companies don't deserve my money.

May I suggest sites such as snopes before you start making sweeping boycotts. |

Funny how this country has gone coffee mad in the last decade, used to be tradition for afternoon tea & cake but they are a dying trade of tea shops around, nothing but coffee shops now.
It's a shame. |

None really- I think the big corperations over charge for poor quality. If (on the rare occasions) I am having a cuppa- I tend to use Independents, rather than chains x |

I detest coffee shops and I avoid them. The rise in the popularity of them has me really baffled. I can see the need in an outlet to sell hot drinks to workers but the whole "shall we meet for coffee" thing confuses me.
Pop round and I'll put the kettle on if you want a coffee and a chat. |

"Just think... a daily coffee
say at £3, every day at work...
equates to £780 per annum?
For coffee " I know, i go in twice a week just over £5 a time (buy around each) that's £520 a year. However, I don't buy crap junk food like cakes, sweets and chocolate I'm sure alot of people spend more than £10 a week on that and I am out socialising. |

I spend £10 each time I go. That's a coffee, paninni and occasionally a cake for me and a suspended coffee. Sometimes I go twice a week, sometimes I only go twice a month. I don't drink alcohol, rarely go out as such, it's my little indulgence. |

When shopping in Birmingham, my friend and I always go.for afternoon tea at Marco Pierre White's restaurant in the cube, in the mailbox. It's really nice in there to rest our weary feet |

I like the idea of coffee shops. I like the smell and cosiness of them. I just can't drink it so I have hot chocolate. You don't usually get children in them, and they are usually quiet and warm. |

I'm not overly keen on chain shops, but Costas coffee is like nats piss! It's the worse of the big 3.
I prefer independents and prefer if you can choose your roast, we're happy to pay for the priverlige of somewhere selling blue mountain for example. Although personally my favourite is a strong Italian roast blend, prefer it to the more expensive coffees
We are lucky as there are some good coffee places not too far from us. Still would love to open my own tea room though |
