Apologies for the geek post
Did anyone watch last night's opening episode? What did you think?
I loved it, I thought it was a very decent first episode.
Capaldi and Gomez both were outstanding in this, I particularly liked both of their reactions to finding out they were on Skaro. It was well played by both of them.
I didn't really like the overly long entrance of the guitar playing, tank standing Doctor. We all know the Doctor likes to make an entrance but it was more reminiscent of Bill and Ted than the Doctor. Maybe if it wasn't so long it would have been ok, along with the one liner crappy jokes that just seemed filler and a bit of killer for me.
However, the opening sequence of the hand mine field and the realisation was a great opener.
The welcome return of Julian Bleach as Davros is exciting, and I'm looking forward to seeing how this unfolds.
"Who made Davros?" Well let's just see.....

When it started to dig into classic mythology, particularly the brilliant Baker-era 'Genesis of the Daleks' I started to be engaged.
I hope part two it's as good and doesn't cop-out and fall flat, which the Moffat two parters have a habit of doing.
Agree the tank entrance was more WWE than Who. They would have been better using the prequel sequence they filmed. |

Haha good write up. One of my main loves of the recent doctors though has been the silly randomness. k
We didnt have that with Capaldi and i was worried. I think those moments ofset the tension x |

Well I tried so hard to stay awake but this didn't grab me at all, I absolutely love missy, without a doubt and I look forward to the rest of the series, I just hope Moffat doesn't cock it up again and make it to complicated x |

Absolutely loved it, I stayed well away from spoilers so the shock "What's your name?" scene was fantastic. Missy stole it, as usual - just give Gomez a spin-off already or, even better, she could become Clara's replacement! xx |

I can honestly say I was disappointed when The Master returned as Missy but (and it's a big but!) Michelle Gomez is phenomenal. Totally deranged! Loving it!! |

Gomez is fantastic as missy completely off her rocker which what you want as a master / mistress...
I am still not sure on the episode it was a 7 for me.......
I hope we see river song vs missy or captain jack vs missy could be very interesting
2 alpha females with the doctor in the middle...... |

Yeah true plus even casual gear prefer it compared to the magicians outfit he wore last season. |

I preferred this weeks to last but was so predictable, I really wish Russell t Davis would come back!!
Next weeks looks more of the same from Moffat too, Victorian looking 'beings' I just pray it gets better.
Although I love missy!!!! |

Missy is bonkers and I loved the relationship with her and clara more than Clara and the doctor.......
I don't mind Moffat that much...one of my fellow who fans hates him with a passion

"I thought it was rather meh.
Thankfully missy kept it rolling along.
I like complexity, this one was not that complex, but it needs to be fun and missy brought that in spades. "
I did like the relationship with Davros and the call backs to the time we saw Clara as a dalek
Which I though was clever.
Gutted that I can't use sonic screwdriver innuendos any more lol |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
"
That was properly spooky. I'm surprised they didn't save it for Halloween.
Do you have any theories on the ending/climax?
Clara really annoys me now, I'm glad she's leaving this series. "
It's only just started, let's not climax too soon.

I thought tonights was pretty poor. A so so story with a budget saving location (so far).
I didn't find it that spooky.
I really hope Steven Moffat stops writing the story for Dr Who, I don't really rate him as a writer. |

I actually enjoyed tonight's episode. Still wonder what will happen to Clara, and how they will write her out. Shame Amy can't return, if only for those legs.lol

Most of what I've read in the way of reviews is actually positive, which is nice.
I enjoyed tonight's episode as it had a Impossible Planet/Satan Pit/Waters of Mars feel to it (all personal faves of mine); as usual, Capaldi is fantastic.
I am not a fan of Clara either, but that's beside the point. I think this series has got off to a much better start - the two-parter format has really helped out with the pacing issues of last season. I look forward to next week's |

I thought tonight's episode was very good too and agree with pretty much all you say! It's gone down well on the Gallifrey Base Forums too and that lot can be a cynical critical bunch too! I was unsure of Capldi when appointed buy think last series and the start of this have been the strongest of the 'NuWho' era |
