"Would you shoot one of those mack off great house spiders that are EVERYWHERE at the moment? "
It's illegal to shoot a spider? I learn something new every day.
If it hadn't been illegal, Mr Pistorius might have had another line of defence. |

"Why are you posing this at the ladies?
I wouldn't shoot them, I'd rather have the spiders than flies which are filthy things. "
I was talking to a male Fab member just the other day about spiders; this thread might give him ideas but his aim would be rubbish as he'd be running out the door and trying to shoot backwards.

I let the house spider have free reign During the spring and summer but I,ve Started to put conkers down when they Are fresh off the trees, In a few areas They lurk, when the conkers dry out its Back to business for the spiders, I found a early conker on the floor Beneath chestnut trees this afternoon still in its case, I put that one Alongside a hole where a large House Spider lives she,ll be alright it will just subdue her Somewhat as the chestnut oil does to All house spiders. |

I have spent many a night laying in bed sweating and crying with my heart racing because I saw a big spider in my house. I can't kill them because I can't get near enough. I would shoot them if my hand was steady enough and hate myself for killing something that meant me no harm. |

"NOOOOO, spiders cause no harm and are ecologically efficient predators. "
You wouldn't be saying that if you were hooked up to an ECG machine and had your heart recorded while someone shows you pics of big hairy spiders..... The predators bit isn't true, I have flies and spiders, If the spiders eat flies why do I then have to buy sticky fly paper?? |

I have an irrational fear of spiders but shooting one is madness I tell you..madness. I would save my ammo for something far larger and more dangerous.
Like a giraffe intent on rape and pillaging or something... |

Our house is a spider free zone, the ninja spider assassin kitties do a fantastic job of clearing the crawly fuckers out.
I imagine they see it as extra protein in their diet |

I was driving on the motorway a few years ago the sun was shining in my eyes so I pulled the visor down, A few seconds later a spider came down on it's web and just hung there, I had to keep blowing at it until it went back up |

I'm pretty sure the one that ran across our carpet last night wouldn't have been satisfied with a fly, more like a dog, or possibly a small child at least.
I was worried if I threw my shoe at it, it might catch it and throw it back!

Spiders do a good service for us, eating flys etc"
And then the cats do a good service of eating the spiders....unless they find themselves in animal court for crimes which break animal law

What's a false widow look like ? I used to live in Australia as a child and am terrified of spiders
I tried to flush one down the plug hole today but it climbed back back up.... The little bugger !!! |

They're brown in colour with a whiteish skull like pattern on their body. Nowhere near in the realms of a black widow but can give a nasty nip.
My friend called pest control to remove a nest from her shed, Eeeuuuwww!' |

I dont seem to mind Garden spiders but when it comes to the house spider, I freak out. Heart rate goes up, I get panicy and my palms sweat. I can't deal with them so I have to spray them with fly killer
I genuinely feel sorry for those who have a phobia of them.
Surprised companies haven't produced something for general sale to make houses spider free. I'd buy one no matter what the cost |
