Certainly a pleasing result, I just hope they can tidy their game up a bit and reduce the penalty count. Good start though.

I'm not confident that Brown will survive the whole tournament, he's going in so hard every time. I'll be surprised if he lasts three more games injury free.

I did say that tongue in cheek(or to get a bite)

I would agree Fiji couldn't be classed as much of a minnow as Canada. But I'm not sure they are ranked 8th in the World either ?

Totally enjoyed the game. England were damned lucky for the best part with the number of errors they made. Fiji were strong opposition. Going to the Samoa Japan game on the third. Samoa will win, but it's gonna be another strong game as Japan really put in the time since last world cup. Gonna be fun

The score line looks pretty but much work to be done in the next 5 days.

11 turnovers are OK against the likes of Fiji. They won't get away with that against the Aussies and Wales.

Bonus point could come into play if things get squeaky bum at the end of the pool phase.

Ok not a very good performance by England and some shocking decisions by the ref BUT all that said they done what needed to be done got the extra point which I think will be crucial at the end. Don't let this performance fool anyone first game nerves under a massive spot light . And I'm a Welsh supporter.

Reply privately (closed, thread got too big)

Still hoping Wales make it out of the group stages but I think it's Engand and the Aussies going through. Losing Halfpenny has lost us 10 yards on penalties, I also don't think Warburton is fully fit.

England also raise their game at the World Cup, late nights game was a good result; a win (remember France v Argentina in 07) and no injuries against a punishing side. I can see England reaching the final if they avoid injuries; I only hope they don't win as they're still going on about Wilkinsons kick going over to take the tournament in 03

Yea I know about the roof policy - I just have a bee in my bonnet about the Welsh stadium. No other rwc stadium can close the roof. All the games should be played in the same conditions. Rugby is an outdoor sport .

Agree about Argentina at Wembley - another shock result on the cards?

I'm a Kiwi boy so I live this shit. Sundays game against Argentina at Wembley was intense!

I think Scotland will win today but I love an underdog story... Another Japan win would be cool.

I like how the opening weekend set up the Cup... Nothing is written in stone just yet.

Same as Fiji.Would appear England not only have home advantage, but a rest period advantage also.

Theres home advantage and then there's taking the piss! I want to win but I want to win fair. Yes I know its about the odd number of teams in the pools and it balances out across the pool as a whole but there's also moving games for scheduling concerns

"Poor discipline from us so far

The team looks like they were overconfident but who cares if they win with 4 tries and no injuries it's job done. As long as they win all their matches they go through as group leaders"

ready for this afternoons double header...

the plucky japanese vs the plucky scots.....

followed by the plucky fijians vs the plucky.... erm... aussies!!!

japan have ruined this world cup betting wise for me.... I had this game circled as my "this is where i might be able to make some money bet"..... now the best price i can get on japan winning is 5/1!!!

Great afternoon of rugby ahead, hoping Scotland can blow this pool wide open. Not only because it would be great for them but also because they deserve it

The reason for giving England every chance is so that, when they are beaten, they don't have any excuses other than not being very good!

"The moderator just closed my thread about the match, scotland v japan i dont know why?"

probably because we use this one for all world cup matches in the tournament and don't set up seperates for each game......

Think they are trying to keep it in one place so when this one is full there will be world cup rugby 3 XX

They were so focussed against the boks, their captain was talismanic. Today he just looks manic! Loads of handling errors

I think a few of the Japanese look a bit battle worn from the weekend but that was a cracking tackle by the full back
