I just want to lose a few pounds - or kilograms if it makes things easier
The thing is I just end up reaching for the biscuits, and once the packet is opened a whole load disappear, and I assume digestives don't evaporate at room temperature?
Over the past 9 months, yes this did start as a New Year resolution, I haven't gained or lost a single pound - but just so annoying not losing anything. Especially as my target was 1 stone loss.
So any advice on how to avoid binge eating? |

Make sure you don't have biscuits in the house or any other unhealthy foods
Feel the fridge and cupboards up with more healthy options
If you don't have it you cannot eat it

Choose a different habit? I tend to pick up water or chew gum when I feel hungry for no reason. I think they did a study once and found that lots of the time when you feel like snacking, your body actually just wants some water.

OK, as your weight loss is manageable and a small amount I will say, willpower, don't buy the bloody biscuits in the first place
Seriously though, you haven't gained any weight which is a positive, have you tried switching everything you have to low calorie/sugar free options.
Cook from scratch, find substitutes to snack on, oh and don't buy the bloody biscuits |

If it's sweet treats that are your downfall then you have two options - both of which work if you exercise willpower (they do for me anyway!)
One is to buy the kids treat-size packs of Mars bars, biscuits , sweets etc etc so you only have a manageable portion size (I do this!) -
The other is two take the biscuits out of the cupboard, put your allotted 2-3 biscuits on a small plate, and put the biscuits back in the cupboard! NEVER take a full pack of biscuits/large bar of chocolate into a room and put it down next to you - as you're very likely to eat for more than you intended to! X
Hope this helps! |

I buy all healthy stuff and get my daughter treats that I don't like, like quavers and French fry crisps, she likes them I won't eat them. Buy chocolate mini rolls for her cos I don't like the cream! Still doesn't stop me going next door to my mums and taking her biscuits! |

Stop drinking eat fruit and or foods with a GI below 50 and exercise 45 mins (cV) every other day.
You will loose 1.5 kgs in 7 days.
Bin the treats as the sugar will just negate all the good work

2 tips:
1. Don't buy biscuits.
2. Install My Fitness Pal on your phone and log everything you eat. Even just for a few weeks. You'll be surprised at which foods are messing you up and how easy it actually is to stay on target. Doesn't take long to get into the habit. |

Don't have it in the house. I have no willpower so I cannot have biscuits, crisps, cake etc in the house. I can't do moderation. So my husband has to keep his junk food at work.
Otherwise bingeing is very much linked to emotional state, habit and boredom for me. If I'm doing something else, I can't be eating, so trying to do more things (less time slumped in front of the TV) works for me! |

Best thing is don't buy them in the first place it's much easier to ignore a craving for a quick biscuit if it means having to drive to the shops |

Cheers for the comments.
I do a lot of exercise, walking the dog, a couple of classes at the gym and a few runs per week. So all helps burn the calories.
I just get annoyed that I cannot seem to beat the sugar cravings. |

I still need to snack. "need" may be the wrong word, but I've very little will power.
If I'm hungry I will go and buy snacks (okay, biscuits).
My solution is to have something I like to eat and drink which isn't unhealthy. I drink loads of chai tea (splash of milk, no sugar) and have oat cakes and peanut butter or a little pack of belvita.
I would be better off not snacking, I know, but I put healthier snacks between me and the biscuits. |

This is correct, the brain sometimes mistakes hunger for thirst. |

The problem is just as bad as any other addiction. And it is an adiction.
You've formed a habit and you crave the gratification these snacks give you.
I'm just the same and guilty of late evening snacking before bed
You have to break that cycle you're in, find an alternative action to going to the biscuit barrel.
In most cases it's going to have to be cold turkey.
Drink water as suggested, as that will be satisfying to the body if not the mind.
Go and do something else if you're prowling the kitchen and peeking into the fridge.
It's not easy, but you can do it |
