I think the ps is the more powerful unit, and free online sounds nice , xbox gold is 95 quid a year? Suresome one will confirm that but it's around there . The small memory space is a bit wank on the xbox . But to be honest they are so close in performance , the tipping point I'd really say is games , I think xbox has more releases but all the big name games are across platform now....

Speaking as a xbox owner can't really give you an opinion on the ps ..

No help what so ever but there ya go .

Good morning btw

I have the ps2 still always did like the many of games on the system that you could play

for tombraider originals 1-4 you need a memory card done in the ps1 then it will save the games to play latter

I mean it's dependant on opinion largely again I have had both consoles and still prefer my ps but the fluidity and browser for the xbox with seamless switching is pretty good...if we go on figures playstation is winning the console war and there are loads of games for both consoles now...if you want something for your kids then maybe get every one 3ds and just play Mario kart it'll cost round the same haha

The playstation is better for games but the xbox is more of a home entertainment system.

They all run Netflix, BBC iplayer, the channel 4 and it players bunch of movie players etc now so a lot of on demand video stuff.

Also stick all your music on them, or put a big hard drive and and fill them with all your downloaded films.

Before it died my ps3 had every single thing John Wayne had ever stared in on it cause my mum loved him and used the thing more than me lol

I'm not exactly a technophobe, in fact I was building and blue toothing PCs before phones even had bluetooth and have had a fair few consoles.... But going completely the other way here (and not in a judgemental way either) how about an armful of board games.... Stay with me on this lol.... I find a evening or two a week with the kids playing a board game is much more fun than playing on a console... Having said that we have also had some good nights on the consoles too...

For me though it's got to be the Xbox, no idea why I just always prefered it.

Nope (although I think the Wii U's graphics are spectacular to be honest - I'm often more impressed with what I see on there more than the PS4).

But if I was looking for a family-friendly console, I'd stick with Nintendo all the way. I can't think of any PS4/Xbox One games I would really to play as a family or want my kids playing...

For kids id go for the Nintendo... We have a few different consoles but the only one the family plays on together is the wii. And now they seem to be listening and after a few months releasing the games for the Wii instead of just the Wii u... And you can download lots of games with the Wii points.

whil am not against games at all(the opposite lol),there are many of the consoles really doing too much online..fair enough it is a socializing in a manner..but I know many friends and family who are getting a bit tired of their kids spending so much time online playing games..

the kids dont want to do anything outwith the house and there are some behavioural elements increasing

I've never been a big fan of playing online to be honest, as I do like story driven games.

as I said before, as an adult I'm happy to pick up the marios, zeldas etc from nintendo

I went for the PS4, i didn't like the idea of the xbox listening to whats going on in the room 24/7. So many high profile hacks from big companies, it's not worth that kind of possible intrusion into your home.

I have a PS2, PS4, Xbox One. I use all three intermittently as the variety of games, her capabilities and the features of each really satisfy me over and above just one console.

I rarely find time for games nowadays but the PS2 had classic and really enjoyable games, the PS4's graphics are unsurpassed and the Xbox One has terrific exclusive games such as Halo.

Very exciting lineup toward the end of this year; Tom Clancy, Assassin's Creed Syndicate, Fallout 4.

Yes I do believe Online games have taken away times that I had when I was younger, thou on Days such as today when its miserable And wet stopping in doors is not a bad option, but long term not good in my book, but of course when youngsters are Involved parents/guardians need to be with them when out and about, not just from a safety aspect but for a true family experience, that was more Recognised before the playstations and Xboxs came to the worlds platform, not Sure what effect it "may" have on them Later in life as you mentioned Behaviour problems now.

In terms of performance, both machines have their pros and cons, but unless you're going to have both consoles rigged up side by side, you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference in the end result.

Probably a better way of choosing is to look at the platform-exclusive games and see which ones you like the look of.

Also, as mentioned earlier, the Xbox Live service is a paid subscription while the PS version is free. XBL is only £30 a year (and you can pick it up for around £20 from the likes of CDKeys.com), but they do give away a couple of free games a month though, so it's well worth the price in my opinion.

I have an Xbox One and a 360 at the moment, so I'm getting three or four free games a month for my nonimal subscription fee, which is more games than I actually have time to play. Can't say fairer than that!

If your talking ps4 xbone then you have to pay for online on both. Both are in the region of £40 for the year. But there are always deals to be had.

I own both the ps4 is the marginally more powerful hard Ware but the xbox one is where I spend most of my game time.

You have to put games side by side to really see any difference without that the games are identical.

My advice on consoles is if your playing online get the one your mates have.

All games consoles have an online connection now, although it is not 100% required it is highly recommended, unfortunately so many games are released with faults or features missing and the only to fix or update them is to download patches or updates online, the consoles themselves also receive updates via internet

Children should only really play games suitable for their age and all 3 consoles have parental controls, as with Internet use you should monitor them, Nintendo is the safest in that respect as none of their own games feature online voice chat during games, so you wouldn't have to worry about people swearing or bullying them (Mario kart 8 does feature chat in the online lobby but only among registered friends) many Nintendo games are linked to its miiverse service (like Twitter for Nintendo) and people can post messages you see in your game, but it's heavily moderated and I've never seen anything bad

Online gaming, like it or loathe it is a big part of gaming now, Nintendo does not charge you to play games online,100% free

Sony and Microsoft both charge a monthly fee to let you play online

All consoles, Nintendo wii u, Sony PS4 and Microsoft xbox one will allow you to use BBC iplayer and Netflix etc without having to pay a fee

The wii u does indeed struggle to attract big third party games (games not made by Nintendo) but these are all adult games like grand theft auto and metal gear solid, third party child friendly games such as all the lego games, rayman and just dance are all available on Nintendo as well as PS4 and xbox one

Personally I enjoy Nintendo games the most and they are generally suitable for all ages, but I also enjoy games such as grand theft auto, assassins creed and the batman arkham games which are either not on wiiu at all or the latest editions are not on wiiu

For that reason I have a wii u and a PS4 to get the best of both worlds

Have to chip in and speak for PC. 60FPS, supports full 4K resolution, cheap games, steam sales, mods, more free games, you can use whatever controller you want, the amount of games that are still supported is frankly obscene.

Just try it, definitely do not regret converting.

I went for the Xbox, prefer the controller and online service. But, technically the PS4 is the better machine and will have a great selection of games.

I have both, it's 39 for the plus on Xbox and 40 for the same thing on ps, you cannot play half the games on either unless you upgrade and pay,,! All a big con but it's the way of the world I guess, I fav is the ps,, the kids prefer Xbox ,

Some, but things like plants vs zombies and I have a few others as well, won't play without upgrading, big con,, because once you have spent 40 on the game and haven't realised they won't play you have to upgrade

"Mainly games i can play with the kids like rayman etc if they still do those? haha

Maybe more tombraider type things if there in bed?

Can you tell its been a few years? "

If you like rayman it's available to download on xbox one and tomb raider is free on games for gold at the moment.

I have 2 Xbox 360's on Ebay with loads of games per auction :D

So yes I'd go Xbox 360 - Xbox One not worth it yet

I've got a ps4 and xbox one. Experienced all both have to offer. Now Both need you to pay in order to use their online gaming etc. Both you can watch Netflix and all other channels. Buy a USB stick and you can easily have so much more storage to download films or games from their online store. I found this better then clogging up my home with games in cases everywhere. However all in all if I had to choose one I'd choose the PS4 everytime. Good luck

"Its been a few years since ive had one. I have a wii but now is time for something proper.

So PS or XBox?

Playing with unknowns holds no appeal btw as i want the kids to play on it too."

Games consoles are too technical now for me with all the 3d stuff and all that jazz. I still have my megadrive set up in my bedroom, must make a note to hide that if I ever have a guy over!
