Hi, I was over at Old Sarum yesterday (Saturday) with the girlfriend waiting for the Vulcan only to be disappointed because it went technical with a fuel leak and flew straight back up north.

Just wondering how many fabbers were around parked up in the various gateways and fields near Old Sarum ?

One couple in particular caught my eye and my 6th sense thought maybe You were in a Goldie coloured 4x4 I'll say no more

Did they have a pampas grass in the back, or an "I only cum at chameleons" window sticker ?

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

Awww, thought this was going to be about the Vulcan. Its flying at the Yorkshire Air Show which I can't get to as its in Church Fenton which is in the middle of nowhere for us without cars. Boo.

I saw it flying over York a couple of months ago which was a big deal as it won't be flying after this year.

Sadly, we're into the final few chances to see this magnificent machine in the skies. At least it will be well cared for at Doncaster for its final resting spot. Unlike the few that are sat in shabby States at various museums/airparks.

We were waiting for it to put in an appearance at Goodwood, after its non appearance at Bicester and Dunsfold.

We were following the twitter feed and it went over Worthing and was heading our way!! At last.

Then it appeared high up to the north and buggered off.

Bah!

Missed this magnificent plane yet again

It's a shame she has only got a few more weeks flying, but with all the technical problems recently, I would rather see her static in one piece, rather thanta few thousand pieces.

Long live XH558!

Although I've not seen it this year, I've enjoyed watching the Vulcan at the Farnborough Air Show previously. I think I probably took it for granted at the time.

I've ( Mr) had an interest in the Vulcan since a coincidence happened when I was younger.

I was with my parents in Dorset and we were driving up Portland Bill and on one of the bends going up where all you can see is sky, the news was on the radio and just as the news reader announced that the Vulcan fleet was to be decommissioned the whole windscreen was full of Vulcan as one flew past.

It was a breathtaking coincidence and I've had a soft spot for them ever since.

Northampton Somewhere

It flies over my workplace regularly as I believe it is kept at Sywell air field. It really is an amazing sight. I've been quite quick enough to get a good pic of it though

One of the guys who works with us used to pilot them in the 70's 80's.

One point he made was if you were going on a bombing mission as the plane's flying crew, chances were you weren't coming back!! Scary thought!

Thanks for all those wonderful comments and oh, couldn't see any ankle From where I was standing !! But the lady gave a lovely cheeky smile as they drove off

I'm probably going to watch it take off next week, hopefully before it has time to develop any faults !

Wyrdwoman if you message me I might be able to offer a lift ?

But the mystery clue in the 4x4 looks like staying just that

I have been told this too.

I had a tour of the one that used to be on display at Blackpool airport

IIRC the cockpit crew were flung out in ejector seats, the bomb aimer was flung out underneath and the other crew had to jump through the hole he left
