I liked rave music. Nobody i knew had a TV or watched any.

Stu allen, really good music. And steve penk was pretty funny with his prank calls.

Lived in a teen hostel at the time, was an alcholic as well, good times. Most of us were off our tits in that hostel and it was awesome.

Then i had my first child 1996, erm i remember chat, that's life magazine and boring stuff like this after that...

I think my personal summary is something like: A levels, drinking in the park/woods, Uni, a flat full of Suede fans (I f***ing hate Suede), The Haçienda, jazz funk clubs. Graduating, a short stint in pharmaceuticals and then joining the civil service and starting a life of slightly strange research.

One of mmy more prominent memories of the 90's were all the rail strikes. The worst case taking 12 hours to travel from Manchester to Birmingham at which point they gave up and put everyone into taxis.

I remember my first boyfriend- getting the phone cord to stretch to the stairs from the living room so we could talk for hours without my mum listening!

My first CD player and buying Diamonds and Pearls and Soul to Soul on cd.

Going to Uni and dancing to Strike U Sure Do among others!

Listening to Everybody Hurts by REM during hard times and shouting at a guy in neighbouring halls to turn E17 down!!

Later Oasis and Blur.

And Blind Date, Baywatch and Gladiators was Saturday Night Tv!!

School exams, then uni, indie gig after indie gig, sage and comfrey lotion from The Body Shop (amazing zit reduction properties), doc martens, stripy tights, charity shop shopping (oh, the hats!) granddad cardies, band t-shirts, ankle length skirts, tartan trousers, growing my bob out, hair wraps, beads, drinking in fields and using the Internet for the first time. Going to the fair on a Friday night then hanging around the manor suite watching all the big girls and boys queuing up for southern exposure. Listening to the music pumping from outside and dancing on the wall next to the building! Buying the 8 and 12 packs of tapes, helterskelter techno drome and playing them in the house, we'd take turns to turn the light switch on and off really fast whilst the rest of us danced! Going to the hippy shop that sold all the bongs and dreamscape jackets and nagging my mother for a green bomber jacket with hardcore heaven on the back! Adidas tracksuits with the luminous colour stripes. Painting my nails with tip ex in school. Looking forward to Saturday mornings when my grandparents went shopping and I could play my music load on my granddad's fantasticly loud speakers and subwoofers! Toffee crisp yogurts, pogs. Taping songs from the top 40 on a Sunday, watching the end of the clothes show having to have a bath, getting out and Howard's way would still be on then having supper and watching birds of a feather.

Late 90's remember using some of my Xmas money to buy a ticket which was £120 for Gatecrasher in Sheffield, remember shitting myself cos we were only 16 but shine how we managed to get in. Mad cos I probably only looked about 12!

South East Midlands NOT

I had rainbow tights which I wore under very short dungarees...with gold platform trainers.

Oh the shame. I was barely a teenager of course.

Remember those t-shirts with the naff motifs as well. A heart, a star. Etc.

Oh god and those horrible 'tattoo' chokers which have had a resurgence with this 90s trend.

I remember my mum wearing Deirdre glasses too. With Laura Ashley dresses.
