Have any of you fab forumites ever gone beyond thtowing some cash in a bucket and stepped up to take part in a charity event?
Im doing one next week as part of the battle of britain celebrations. 12 man team and we have to lift 1,545,000 kg (1000kg for every aircraft lost) and run/cycle 544 miles( 1 for every airman killed) in 12 hours.
Have set myself a personal challenge of trying to lift 100, 000 kg in an hour.. 
Anyone else proud of an achievement? |

NO physical events as such but loads for Guide dogs , Guide dog Week 4th Oct -11th Oct .
Also holding a MacMillan coffee morning , swinging social, at ours 26 Sept ,message if you'd like to come .

Done lots from charity cake stalls to fun runs (walks in my case)
Paul has done many fitness bossed challenges such as 3peaks and he does the sutton fun run every year |

Not particularly proud as such but I regularly bake and donoate to charity- things like cancer research and red nose day and the church that my neighbour attends. She does a lot for us, so its nice to do a little for her x |

I've got three sons, two of which have autism so with the ex we used to run a charity and hold cookery clubs for kids with asd, we've done all sorts to raise cash, like the 100 geocache challenge in 48 hours!! X |

For the past 4 or 5 years I have been doing the London to Brighton bike ride.
Before that I was involved in cancer research Relay for life, it is a team event starts on a Saturday finishes 24 hours later. The teams walk around a track, the more in the team the less walking you do. It was a brilliant event. |

I have done the Liverpool to Scarborough fun ride a few times, I can tell you there is not much fun riding 177 miles in a day.
Done a few other rides as well, even did a sponsered paintball tournament. |

I've organised 3 charity/auction nights this year for sick kids hospital and 2 cancer charities. Hard work organising it all but well worth it when you hand the cheque over and know you are making that wee bit of difference x |

A group of 6 of us did the 4 peaks years ago, somehow ended up including an impromptu full monty in a nightclub whilst out collecting donations in Killarney but who cares, was all for a good cause. |

I've done various charity challenges, sky dives, abseils, bungee jumps etc.
I wanted to do the London 3 Peaks for Cancer Research but the amount they wanted in minimum sponsorship and registration was unreal. |

And this gets the Lickety seal of approval, much more than the big event stuff. Although, good luck for that too.
I've done "runs" (they are slower than my walking) and lots of very strange things. The most recent has been to learn the Russian alphabet. This site won't let me enter text using the Cyrillic alphabet but my homework got 80%  |

We used to organise charity events via this forum, raised quite a bit of money, girls versa boy stuff and swinging auctions, wouldn't be able to do it now as someone would take offence and spoil it

Yes very.
I drove from Edinburgh to Morocco as the support team for three cyclists. It was an epic experience and we raised 130k for charity. Hard work organising it and doing the support but I loved it. We kicked off with the London to Paris section with 70 riders and then the three of them continued. Thoroughly proud of them.  |

First session done.
Set my personal challenge at lifting 100,000 kg in the first hour. Did 117,800 kg
2 hour session total of 169,000.
Back in the gym later
Spin session tomorrow.

Just smashed the gym again. Apparently someone had equalled my total. My new total is 251,500 kg. Just got a spin class in the morning. It has just taken me 4 goes to get my top off though...  |

Just smashed the gym again. Apparently someone had equalled my total. My new total is 251,500 kg. Just got a spin class in the morning. It has just taken me 4 goes to get my top off though... "
Oh. And I had to crawl up 4 flights of stairs. Walking like someone has put my false legs on backwards... |

Are you paying for the skydive or are people's charitable sponsorships paying for your skydive? |

Are you paying for the skydive or are people's charitable sponsorships paying for your skydive?do you mean if I get enough sponser money then they give me the skydive for free, if so then yes that's what I'm looking into"
That's an interesting one not heard that before.
In college we had people do this then happily parade around going "we raised 300 quid for charity"
Left sat there thinking "but you used 250 quid of that to pay for the skydive :/" |

That is all.well done you, hope your suitably proud"
