Is my new pet hate!! Just going through getting our first mortgage and life/critical illness insurance, and our premiums have jumped up by an additional £55 a month because one of my parents had cancer. I know it's something that can't be helped and we have to have the cover but I just needed to vent my annoyance!!!

I get your point. Its annoying when something you have no control over effects your premium!

What I found frustrating is the masses of declarations necessary and that's despite me working closely with the insurance industry and understanding the need for full disclosure!

I remember being in an interview for my mortgage and lying about my circumstances as my dad was sitting right next to me.

:o

Let's hope they don't catch me, eh?

Although premiums are based on an assessment of risk a £600 a year hike seems excessive.....I would shop around if you can....good luck.

The insurances we are having to take out are half the cost of the actual mortgage, I will never moan quite so much about car insurance again

Ross-on-Wye

We were once sitting in the hot tub in a swingers club in the USA, eyeing up a potential couple for a canoodle.

Then the guy started to try and sell us life insurance, right there in the hot tub!

Naughty Naughty, however little white lies and parents is something I haven't quite grown out of yet, it's hard work being the favourite child

But did he offer a discount?

That reminded me of my one time in a hot tub in the states, not a swinging club though, a little boy decided to tell everyone that his Mum did the wild thing on the beach in Jamaica, not entirely sure what that was but she went a lovely shade of red

Herts

I remember lying about my Dad's diabetes (self-inflicted, the Cunt) because it would've put it up about £15 for me.

Well, I never said he DIDN'T have it, I just said I don't really speak to him so wouldn't know.

"And is there any history of heart disease, diabetes, cancer etc in your immediate family?"

"I don't know, I have never traced them".

End of family history questioning by the insurance salesman. They are not going to investigate whether you were orphaned, fostered, adopted. They can't do it.
