What do you wear? How important is smelling nice to you?
For a long time now, I've used Acqua di Gio as a fresh daytime smell and Fahrenheit for a more heady evening scent...Recently I spent a delightful hour or so in the perfume department of Fortnum and Mason in the company of a good female friend. I am now considering splashing out on something more exclusive by one of the small perfume houses....pure indulgence or worth every penny?

I have about 6 bottles on the go at any given time. what i choose that day all depends on my mood. I love ralph lauren romance but most days i wear cheaper version of my faves.
I will always go back to tommy girl or ted baker as my staples x |

I have a slight obsession with perfumes and smells, I hate to smell horrible or of BO I'm a bit paranoid about that. I love perfume and must have 30+ different perfumes. I used to buy one every month but it got an expensive habit so buy one as that perfume runs out. I would be here all day naming them but my top 3 are Chanel, Chloe and flowebomb and Bon bon...I'm an easy girl to buy for at christmas and birthdays |

Do you think you get too old for certain scents?
I fear this may sound ridiculous but I used to wear Jean Paul Gaultier but I moved onto Versace cause I instantly loved it but I think it's quite a grown up perfume and now I don't seem to be able to go back to my JPG. Which is a shame really cause I have two full bottles of it. |

Nothing worse though, than when someone buys you a perfume or aftershave that you cannot abide for a present...invariably gets passed on to some other poor bugger as a present from yourself at some oportune moment... |

Actually, it is Creed Silver Mountain Water that I'm thinking of going for...not sure about Green Irish T...not on me anyway...apparently, Prince Charles wears that... |

Id never dream of buying someone a scent I didn't know they either used or wanted. It seems a bit weird: like you're telling them how they should smell. |

It smells nothing like you would think it would with that association. Creed have a great range. Also have a look at Aqua Di Palma another great house. |

I've tried a few of the Creed perfumes...hence the thread....personally I wasn't so keen on Irish T...too earthy/heather for me....love Silver Mountain water and Millenium though...toss up between the two...going to go with the first though... |

I like lots. Recently bought a Van Cleef and Arpels one and a Maison Francis Kurkdjian at the airport which are both excellent.
Mainly stick to Chanel, Viktor and Rolf, Dyptique or Narciso Rodriguez. I like the new Bamboo one by Gucci, too, but haven't bought it. |

True it might smell nice on bedding etc than it would on me as we sometimes don't take to scents well on our skin |

Better than binning it too, but I just realised out you can sell used perfumes on eBay. Should've done that, I've wasted hundreds on nice smelling linen. |

Awesome!
Mrs N bought it from Harrods on our last trip to London, purchasing from the store would have definitely trumped it. Will put the it down on places to visit next time we're there. Thanks |

These days it's Viktor and Rolf's Spicebomb for me.
I do remember my son, who was 9 at the time, telling with great relish to my sister that he was wearing my aftershave and it was called "Herpes". After much sniggering he was corrected to Hermes! |

It all depends on your own skin.
Remember your skin chemistry is totally different to anyone else's so those fragrances will change as you wear them.
Try them but go away for a good hour wearing it in its own and then see how it smells to others.
My ex works for one of the main cosmetic houses so the ones I can wear I know and avoid the others.
Certain carriers or accelerants may or may not change in contact with your skin. |

I've got quite a few perfumes, still have my coco mademoiselle parfum from my 30th Birthday that I haven't used yet. I love Thierry mugler alien I've got the 90ml refil bottle that I keep refilling in debenhams, that's my sex smell I always where that when I meet a guy or spend time with a guy!
I've got my nans perfume and spray it on my sleeve sometimes to remind me of her, Lancôme tresor!
I like Dior pure poison. Even like Charlie red cos it reminds me of Xmas and being young! |

My all time favourite is cheap and cheerful Red Jeans by versace/versus. Everyone recognises it as my signature scent. Also partial to Juicy Couture, JPG classique, innocent angel, and probably another real fav is YSL Babydoll (discontinued!)
Love a sweet fragrance on myself. |

I use this too, get a lot of compliments on it.
I also like Chloe, D&G The One - Rose and Illamasqua Freak, so all fairly mainstream scents except maybe the last one. |

I've worn Chanel No5 since my dad bought me a duty free bottle home when I was 13. It's the only smelly I have.
On a man, less is more. I'd rather sniff a clean smell than strong cologne but something from Penhaligons would be terrific. |

I was going to say exactly this! I can wear an aftershave that is nice on me but on my brother it smells horrid.
I am an Issey Miyaki fan, I have the original as everyday and I pick up the summer special editions from the airports as I travel for work a fair bit. Sometimes I wear Vera Wang for an evening out, or Allure Homme Sport.

LOL well you can tell this is David talking and all the guys will agree with me but the very BEST bit of fragrance shopping is the flirting with the yummy perfume-babes in Debenhams while you try before you buy! I'm not keen on strong smells so it took me years to find a subtle, citrusy aftershave that I like (Taylor of Old Bond Street, the Eton College Collection)
Once found a nice perfume for Mrs ddc, but it was in one of those trendy bottles that don't say the name, so when it ran out, that was it

For most of my adult life I've been fairly nonplussed by any aftershave, but last year I found that Jean Paul Gaultier le Male works really well with my skin.
I absolutely love it.
I very rarely get any comments about it, but I wear it for me, so that's okay! |
