Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I'm watching the BBC programme, getting ready for the Queen to become our longest serving monarch this week.

I hadn't really thought about the similarities between the two queens.

It's only going to be a little marking of this milestone as all the big celebrations are being planned for her 90th birthday next year.

There has been so much change in the world since she became queen.

"Ok, I guess we are.

Well, I don't think she'll be at passport control.

It's funny hearing how much her accent has changed over the years.

I'm sure she doesn't bother with a passport:

*Queen to passport control*

"Don't you know who I am?! Take some money out of your pocket, you dreadful little man, see one#s face and weep! Philip, have this man removed."

*sweeps off with fawning entourage*

Like many immigrant families the name was anglicised to Windsor some time ago.

90 years old and still working hard. Hope she can relax a bit soon. Such a massive responsibility. They have my utmost respect.

Mine too.

I wouldn't like to spend so long standing, meeting endless people all with the same limited exchanges, being criticised for doing the job of running the family business etc.

It's a thankless job. I would hope most people would respect an elderly relative of theirs if they had to do something similar. And yet people don't.

Victoria ruled an empire that spanned the globe.

Elizabeth is a now a figurehead, wheeled out to visiting dignitaries.

The role has changed dramatically in the last two hundred years.
