Hi all,
What do y'all think is the least attractive trait in a person?
For me it's arrogance/someone thinking they're above others.
This could be interesting... |

Agree with all of those. I struggled to narrow it to one! Bigot and ignorance is a particular one for me. |

Judgemental. Because most will raise traits that are unattractive, yet conveniently forget, that they as human beings may well have or will have, displayed such traits on various levels in their lifetimes.

I disagree. There's a difference in being ignorant, being confident in your opinion even though you lack knowledge and then knowing your knowledge is limited and being willing to listen to others and take in what they know.
For me it's about accepting that others know more than myself about most things. Just as I'll know more about some things. Sharing and accepting can only be positive. |

Thats a trait inherent with people with low levels of self worth...the need to pull everyone down to elevate their own relative standing.
A couple more...
People who try and turn everything into a competition, as long as they are winning.
People who cannot take criticism with good grace.
People who blatantly dont give a fuck about anyone elses feelings, or treat them as less than human (Fab equivalent as pieces of meat for their pleasure)
People with double standards.. |

the power dynamic is balanced just depends if you as a man give away your power or retain it. I recently stopped seeing this woman cos she assumed i had to kiss her ass everytime she came over for a shag,,, now she is on my case tryin to force a meet and askin why i dont pick up her calls. Thats different from playing the victim. In my experience they fall into 2 categories.
They can create drama around them and manipulate things so they are the injured party
Or they can for whatever reason simply refuse to take responsibility for their own actions and reflect/deflect responsibility on to others. . |

But what if using big words comes naturally to a person? You're saying that it's unattractive. People that use big words to show off (not that I think anybody does) but if they did they'd probably use the word in the wrong context. Using big words isn't arrogant it just means that the person is educated or means that someone has read a lot of books like I have. I'm fluent welsh, didn't get taught English till I was 7 years old, read English books and had my little pocket sized oxford dictionary to look up the words I didn't know and I've got a (big word warning) highly superior autobiographical memory. My spelling and grammar is fucking tip top considering English is my second language. Only once did I ever have 19 out of 20 on a spelling test, Thursday 19th of November 1992 at 2:45pm I spelt the word raspberry wrong cos some cunt thought it was a good idea to have a silent P in it. I cried until I was picked up from school and all the way home and for years after wouldn't eat or drink anything raspberry flavoured. I don't like the idea of someone saying using big words is arrogant, take it back. |

Arrogant would be choosing not to write or talk in a way natural to me due to the assumption people may find it hard to understand. Language is beautiful and I love words. I don't plan on ever being ashamed of that or worrying that others may not like me for it. |

If they use the words in the correct context, what would be the problem? If I'm unable to comprehend their way of speaking I personally don't think they are being arrogant or up their own, but I listen to them in a confused manner and think "now I need to know what that mean" add that to my vocabulary and use it |

An unattractive trait I think is shyness. It's a shame for those who are shy but it's not attractive to me
Also, a lack of understanding is unattractive. I've had a not so good past and my ex couldn't relate to any of it so I never really spoke to her about it so it felt like she didn't really know me well enough.

Education doesn't make a person streetwise and someone could be the most educated person in the land but they might not have common sense. But, that being said, you can't say a person is arrogant or that they're trying to be like oooh look at me just because they have a large vocabulary and they know what the big words mean. For example, my best friend and I use the word peripheral a lot, it might seem like a big word but to use smaller words would mean having to use a lot more words to describe the same thing ie that object/person was outside the very centre of my gaze. We don't use that word to show off or to be arrogant because a convo where we'd use it would go like this her: "did you see so and so then?" Me: "ahh she was in my fucking peripherals butt" It means that we've just spotted someone that one of us has either had a fight with at one point in our lives or someone we think is an absolute wanker and we're confirming the spotting of said person with one another. It's not to show off, no one else can hear what we're saying. |
