Not using the exact wording as I will get banned again but what is this with people holding parties for couples who are presumably physically fit from the description? Do you need a fitness test? I can cycle all day but bet we wouldn't meet the criteria! Is this some sort of apartheid. Perhaps I should have a party for the shapely and I will be the gate keeper. Note to admin no naming quoting or shaming in this post. Rant over!

No different than the BBW or BBC parties. It's just a preference, can't harbour resentment.

Not seen a post, but I don't see any difference between requesting BBWs and requesting athletic body types to a party.

can't see anything wrong with people only wanting 'fit' people at their parties

I've seen many black man fan club parties and BBW parties what's the diffrence

you hold a party you invite who you like surely

A fit party sounds awful!

I get into some yoga positions at parties and clubs but I don't want to do jumping jacks or lift weights at a party.

I agree, I think if you're hosting a party you should be able to invite who you want.

Surely 'fit' is the wrong word though if you want to hold a party for those of a particular (presumably slim) shape. Having watched the shot-putters and hammer-throwers (male and female) at the World Athletics Championships they were certainly 'fit' but also pretty big. Though, if asked, I'd happily attend a party of 'fit' shot-putters!

If someone is holding a party for "in shape" people i sure as hell wouldn't be pushing to attend it! If you find this personally excludes you then move on and look elsewhere

I second this. Even the word 'fit' makes me need to comfort eat!

But as has been said, it's their party. This isn't about equal opportunities.

People can invite whoever they want to attend their parties. Why the rant? Are you saying that people should be forced to invite people they don't fancy?

They aren't using the word fit in a pysical ability way thought are they, they mean fit as in attractive, I have a 14 year old and she's always walking by boys saying he's fit she don't think he can run a marathon

i guess that depends on where the party was being held. In clubs the club is generally open for all comers as well as for the organised party where as at an exclusive venue the organisers will have control over those who get in.

I do feel that the OP has perhaps taken this a bit too personally. They have assumed that they wont get in, they have not been turned down.

This is no different to Killing Kitten parties though who have selection criteria for their members.

Well they're not unique in requesting a certain type of person to attend, City Slickers have had that in place for years as well as KK mentioned above, although I think they have an age restriction too.

Eh, that's not true. When I was active, I was told to not attend a BBW event by the organisers once. It's not a blanket rule.

We're you offered the option of necking a couple of cream buns to get in, like Lewis Hamilton being offered a tie at Wimbledon?

I was told I wouldn't fit in.

Personally I think

but a lot of big women may feel intimidated by a slim women at a BBW event and may feel the guys wouldn't go for her so wouldn't sooner no slim women go"

I think that this may be the real reason. Sadly, a lot of larger women are mean to the thinner women on here. Tends to go unnoticed though.

I don't know why people don't just have parties for everybody

and when you get there play with who you fancy and avoid those you don't

no need to exclude just choose who you play with when you get there

Because overweight people make some people feel ill and they don't want to look at them. Surrounding themselves only in beauty may make them feel more beautiful.

It depends where you have the party, I suppose.

Anything in my home will need people to be vetted. If I'm organising something in a club then it's open, including to those I don't particularly like as I can just let them get on with enjoying the party.

I have been invited to parties and then experienced being uninvited because of my colour as, supposedly, other guests have objected to having someone of my hue there.

I'd guess it's mainly insecure women that do not want to see smaller women. It makes sense that the organisers will obviously pander to them as they're the focal point (and money maker). I doubt the men attending exclusively demand larger women.

I don't know as I didn't attend, so didn't see the male attendees.

It's disgusting. Sorry to be blunt over this because I know and understand some people really do just want stereotypically gorgeous types to play with. But who's to say those types you have zero chemistry with. What if they're genuinely horrible people. Or what if they're so self obsessed with their physical image they don't bother satisfying the other couples???? Yes I completely agree that each to their own and everyone has a personal preference. But there is a way of being a little respectful about it!! So you message someone about their party and you get a no?? You would feel so horrible because you know in their eyes you're not physically fit to them. Which is absolute bollocks.

Maybe I only feel this way because I was a 17 stone girl but still had exactly the same filthy side and personality as I do now, that's why we would NEVER discriminate based on looks. It's bullshit and infuriates me.

I completely agree that everyone can ask for a type, because it's only fair - but please people have a bit of etiquette about it!! Lots of egotisticals which we all expect but I wish some people would just handle things with a little more kindness and respect.

Anyway I'm blabbing like I always do.

I am saying hypothetically, if you see a post and decide oh maybe id like to go to this and receive a flat out no it's pretty disheartening for someone. I just think there's nicer ways of going about it. People can still have their own preferences and requirements without having to put others down in the process.

That's a really good point about asking in a respectful way for guests they find attractive.

But I think the way it's asked will also be a filter as the people they offend won't want to go. The people that agree with the invitation wording will fit in.

The OP is complaining about a post, not being rudely messaged for enquiring about a party.

I am saying hypothetically, if you see a post and decide oh maybe id like to go to this and receive a flat out no it's pretty disheartening for someone. I just think there's nicer ways of going about it. People can still have their own preferences and requirements without having to put others down in the process.

Xx"

What about parties for the nearly dead people

Loud music

Lots of booze and maybe even be able to smoke

Oooooh the mind boggles

Fab is all about excluding other people. Threads run daily that exclude all but a few people on the forum, profiles exclude age ranges and races its much better to concentrate on the people and events that include you.

I think that's hugely over sensitive. I don't get upset about not being black or not being a gay male, it's out of my control. I think if you get upset over someone else's requirements, you're best off working on yourself and not trying to change them.

Yes of course you would like to think people would reject party requests nicely if they don't meet the criteria.

Having read the party post it was pretty clear the type they were looking for so you have to ask yourself honestly 'do I fit their criteria' before applying.

Well that's what I would do.

That does create ghettos; ok if one likes living in a ghetto; otherwise it is up to the rest not to let that happen by 'looking down' on the ones who think they are 'exclusive' and start excluding them; soon their 'club' dwindles down to them and ANO

As a single man I'm excluded quite a lot on fab. I'm not offended if people reply that I'm not what they are looking for.

I can imagine the host of the 'fit party' is trying to create the elitist Hollywood look and good on them. It's what they want.

I don't suggest looking down on anyone or excluding them socially but what would be the point of us asking someone whose profile excluded us to meet?

In real life I socialise with loads of different people but only have sex with a few, same applies here.

I don't understand why people who don't fit into a category get upset about it. There's plenty of other people and parties around. It's not like one can't have sex with a "fit" person if one wanted.

It's the concept of the selection and the use of the word fit which is the point of my thread. It's quite hilarious. In shape/in condition - Also, in good condition or shape ; in shape. Physically fit; also, in a state of readiness. For example, I've got to get in condition before the next road race, or This project's in good shape now, or Is this report in shape to show to the president? The first expression dates from the late 1700s; the use of shape for “a state of health or repair” dates from the mid-1800s. The antonyms of these expressions, out of condition and out of shape, date from the mid-1800s. For example, Their stock was out of condition and not suitable for selling, or I'm so out of shape that I can barely run a mile.

You obviously know what it means. Everyone knows.

I've been thinking about how I'd feel if I saw that original post and I think on balance I'd be offended. But (and it's a big but) that offence would entirely be due to my own body image issues and not the fault of the person just expressing their preference, especially when they're not being rude or nasty about it. I'm more in shape than I was but still wouldn't count myself in shape and seeing that would remind me of that fact. They've done nothing wrong by asking for that; my brain has done wrong by going into 'well, I'm obviously not good enough then' mode.

Why do people worry so much about what other people on fab want?

I am male (so not a couple so no invite); 55 (too old so no invite); ugly (so no invite). 17 stone (so no invite).

I just hope they all have fun (it matters not a jot to me that i have no invite) !

"They probably just want to ensure there is enough buffet to go round. They don't want some tubsters hoarding all the pie.

I shouldn't laugh but I did!

snap "

the only time you are guaranteed to find a room at the bbw nights at chams is when the buffet is out

I hope the organiser of said has a successful party and others organise their own and have equally a great time......

it's about having fun with people you are attracted to by looks, body size, sexuality and a shit load other choices

Lib, it's listed down as nibbles, slim pickings I suspect

I'm sure you are far better than them.
