Carper Colours .Best colours for not staining.
Jump to: Newest in thread
I bought a brand new good quality light beige carpet three years ago and to day it is being dumped . It is hardly the twenty year life span that I was hoping for . The tenant spilt hair dye on it and various stains would not clean out .
What is the best colour of carpet to buy which does not stain so easily ..A dark beige .?
I have also binned a carpet that is less than a year old yet others that are 15 years old are as good as new |

We never had problems with a lught brown. Just ordered a browny grey one for our lounge.
The fibers of thr synthetic ones your supposed to be able to clean with bleach.
So its more the fiber go for something high polypropelene x |

You've played for the carpet
The tenant has ruined the carpet
Surely that means they lose their bond to cover replacement or they pay for it?
Dark colour that aren't too thick would be a good guess.
Alternatively I can remember when I was really young. I knocked a lamp over and burnt the carpet, only the size of the bulb was damaged but a carpet fitter was able to replace that little bit and you couldn't even tell.
youve said its in the bin but just for future reference ![](/icons/thumb_up.png) |

With reference to the deposit , I tend to accept fair wear and tear . Luckily for me most of my tenants are good , I like to treat people fairly , no one likes paying rent , and I just have to accept that a few people are careless. It is still annoying though. |

Wear and tear is a fair comment. My dads got a couple of houses he rents out. Best one was when the bathroom radiator "fell" off the wall
I help him out with repairs that need doing so know what you're talking about. |

"I know that companies often advise landlords to lay rust coloured carpets . Thanks . Good advice but I do not like rust colours . "
So I suppose the question is what colour of carpet hides stains and you like the colour ?
Quite difficult for us to answer ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

You don't have to like it. It's strictly a business decision to minimise future costs. |

They might like it though, you can't decide what colours your tenants will enjoy living with. It's difficult enough agreeing on colour schemes between the two of us let alone unknown people ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

I'm glad others struggle with this choice, as when I walked into a carpet store I found it really tough.
So I didn't make a decision. I don't think I'm a patterned carpet fan, so it's then a decision about the colours. As it's my place, I've got to get something that will match my furniture and decor style, as well as wear well. Currently in a hotel room with a slightly golden brown carpet, patterned with lines of a mid grey colour. From a distance, it's got a mid brown composite colour, and it works. So perhaps I shouldn't be so quick to scorn patterns. |

Laminate flooring, not the good stuff and if they want they can put down a rug |

That's a good shout as long as there is no possibility of it getting wet. Carpets dry laminate warps. |

You said it was for the bedroom though so how much foot traffic do you expect there? |

I'm going for a black and grey speckled carpet in an area of high traffic. People have said it should work fine and not show too much dirt or stains. I'm surprised how much a quality carpet cost so I expected it to be about half the price. |

"What's the difference in the carpets that have lasted the distance. Is it the colour? Pattern? Or just the tenants aren't so clumsy xx" . It may be the material that they are made are and some were slightly darker colours .. However if you spill nail polish or hair dye on them they are probably ruined anyway.. ![](/icons/s/redface.gif) |

I dont have it in the bedrooms but its on my landing. Is it a upstairs flat, then yes could be annoying for the people underneath, but then who walks around in their shoes at home. |

I meant to add, one reason for getting was that I was sick of cleaning carpets |
